Much love for this one. It just gets Wilder and Wilder as it moves along.

This is how they used to do spectacle.

What a crazy cast, I don't know how they got them all together. Sid Caesar is my favorite, as he comes across as the most reasonable and him and his wife always stick together as a team. Spencer Tracy is probably the most relatable of the characters, as he's shown to be hard working to a degree of obsession and his appropriating of the money would essentially be a victimless crime. The desperation on his face at the end is so sad! Sylvester is hilarious and awesome, and it's pretty clear him and his girlfriend were toking up but that couldn't be shown in 1963.

Don't think I recognized all the cameos. Obviously the Stooges and Don Knotts, but a few others passed me by.

The movie takes about twenty minutes to get going, and the cop cut-aways and commentary are monotonous. I think the director felt the audience couldn't keep up with the plot, but it's really not that complicated. The characters are defined broadly and by specific traits. The only problem was Russell's wife and Sid Caesar's wife looked very similar and had similar outfits on, so they could get confusing.

Love the practical stunts. Great car chases and planes crashing into billboards. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

I fucking love this movie to death.  It can always make me smile and laugh no matter how much a shitty day I'm having.

"Listen Mama! You stay right there! I'm going for you Mama! Everything's going to be ok."

Fuck yeah, they don't make them like they used to.  I think the last big spectacle comedy to be made was 1941, which I also fucking love to death.  Screw the haters.

Jonathan Winters' fight with the two gas station attendants has to be one of the best brawls ever put to film.

I'm looking in your direction, They Live!
