... and speaking of GOBLIN

I know Goblin is best known for their collaborative efforts with Dario Argento SUSPIRIA, DEEP RED, DAWN OF THE DEAD , however, I am curious as to what they did in other films ...

I recall seeing the trailer to BEYOND THE DARKNESS and thinking it would be worthwhile to pick up the DVD just for the score ....

Goblin's involvement in the films I have seen has been huge, and ( for example ) their effort on DAWN was the perfect ingredient that took that film to where it now stands: as a classic ... I also like Tangerine Dream's stuff, but where they were more etheral, Goblin was intense ....

What are some other Goblin recommended films, and, while there is no other group quite like 'em, are there any movies out there w/ similar sondtracks ???

I believe they did the music for a little known Carrie rip-off called Patrick.

I loves me Goblin...can't, nor want to, imagine Argento without them. Hell, I even jam out to the Suspiria soundtrack in my car sometimes...you'd be surprised at just how amazing that soundtrack is on a really good, high powered, very subbed and speakerfied stereo system (yeah I am one of those people whose car stereo system might possibly be worth more than their car...shut up ).

If you want to hear a fairly pitiful Goblin impression, check out Evil Dead Trap. I don't think that there could possibly be a better description of it than the one given by the reviewer at Snowblood Apple, so I'm just going to quote him. "The soundtrack tries desperately to invoke the lovely, atmospheric Goblins soundtrack from Dario Argento's Suspiria, only Goblins consigned to early 80's synth hell, trapped behind a bank of Casio keyboards".

Goblin can also be heard in the Nunploitaiton film, Other Hell.

I have the Best of Goblin Vol 1 and the Suspiria cd from the DVD box set.

I think the head guy is in a band called Daemonia. It's a more Gothic-rock version of Goblin, he even does covers? of his old band.

Some Goblin (or Claudio Simonetti-a lead member of Goblin)movies they scored:

Phenomena
Sleepless
The Church
Notturno
Tenabre
Suspiria
Deep Red
Hell of the Living Dead (by default-their music was lifted from Dawn of the Dead)

Blood Stained Shadow
Martin(Italian cut only)
Deep Red

I believe the music was by Nico Fidenco and Walter E. Sear.

Dammit, someone beat me to 'Contamination'. although the film isn't what one would call "Stellar", the soundtrack is definitely worth owning. In fact they just re-released it. Here is a review from my site if you're interested:

Goblin is some of the best driving music ever. Period. Bar none. No questions asked. Period. Ever.
