The Dark Tower

Sup Guys,
Haven't posted in awhile now since I've been busy with school and writing some good ass horror scripts...I'm telling you in a couple of years, I'm going big. But besides talking about me, like the subject saids, I wanna talk about the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. I just want to know who out there in the corner shares the same passion that I have with these books. Although I've only completed Vol.I (The Gunslinger) and almost done with Vol.II (Drawing of the Three), I'm well on my way to finishing all the books by the time Vol.VI comes around. Do you think this could ever really be a movie? I would love to see Roland's Adventure on film but I hope no one would mess up.

Could it ever be a movie? NO.

That fuckin' game...so many nights of self-loathing were born from losing at that game against my ultra-competetive ex...

I love this series of novels. They have to be some of my favorite books ever.

And I have to disagree Johnny, they COULD be made into films. But they probably never will and it wouldn't work right unless it was in a "Lord of the Rings"-esque scope and quality. But the fanbase is not large enough for them to warrant spending that much money and effort on filming them (yet, that is. Maybe 30 years from now). The could potentially make wonderful movies, but I am inclined to say that I'd rather them not try to make them, unless they can actually be done justice.

The only kind of adaptation outside of King's writing I'd ever want to see, and it truth I would rather they keep it verbatim from the books, would be a massive series of grahic novels, just to put some images with the words. Have a new artist contribute to each book, just like the novels, and it could be amazing.

But movies? No. Never. The day that is announced is the day I quite this site.

The series as a whole? No. Way too expensive, and not many people outside the hardcore fans would make it past the first one.

The western flashback in Wizard and Glass, however, that could be done. Shit, I'd like to do that.

Graphic novels would be absolutely wonderful!!!

I've also thought that Anime movies might work best for the series, if it is to ever be filmed with a reasonable budget.

Anime would be great for this series. I could picture it being a cartoon mini-series before I see it on the big screen that is true. But the world that I imagine in my mind while reading, I just imagine how that would look like on film.

My word on it being a movie: no way. Too huge. Even a miniseries wouldn't scratch it.

One tip: once you finish 'The Wastelands', read 'Insomnia', one of King's other books.

Also stop to read 'The Stand', 'The Talisman', 'Black House', and 'Eyes of the Dragon'.

Prior to getting to the new one, 'Wolves Of The Calla', read 'Salem's Lot'.

King is doing something -very- interesting here, and all those unrelated (?) books tie into it.

Whoah...looks like I'll be spending the next year on my reading. Thanks for the insight Mr.Dark.
