Do they make GOOD VCRs anymore?

My VCR will die soon. I got it for my 16th birthday, which was nearly 6 years ago. I have like 500 tapes with movies and stuff on them, but they play like shit on other VCRs. It's becuase newer vcrs just plain suck. Do they make good VCRs anymore that are designed to play old and crappy tapes?

I dunno. But I like Panasonic vcr's. The only ones I know that let you record in LP.

A few brands do LP. but Panasonic give you EP, too! Behold, the triple-power of EP!

I've had my Panasonic for two years now, and it's a gem. Also, if you're having playback problems with old tapes, consider it may have something to do with your television as well, I found an old warped tape on an old vcr still worked fine on a new TV.

No, the problem is with the tracking or something, it's not my TV.

About 2-3 years ago, I bought a nice 6-head Toshiba Cinema Series VCR for less than $100. I've since given it to my mother-in-law, but it still works great.

I've had a lot of luck with Emerson surprisingly.

My dad just bought a new Sony VCR. It can rewind a 4 hour tape in 30 seconds flat. My Emerson takes MINUTES to get the job done.
