Thank you, Alex. That was a helluva ride.

I think skank was used more freely. Even Boomer got slagged on as some geek exploitation fantasy girl.

I'm actually interested if Mark (Smilin' Jack) changed his mind (about the new version of BSG).

Will we ever find out if Ron Moore raped Django? Because from his posts it sure sounds like it. Either that or he's Dirk Benedict.
I suspect Django and Kronos merged, Voltron-like, and became...duke fleed.

What a fun bump.

Fafhrd, Ha Ha!

wow...such venom. It makes the complaining in the main thread seem tame.

Everything that happened before HAS happened again.

The part of the old show which will alway be better then the new show was the Exploding Rick Springfield. Exploding Rick Springfield make everything better.

I watched the first three seasons on DVD. I had no idea people were complaining about anything before then. The internet is weird.

Nostalgia is a bitch. The original series ain't that great.

As the great Harlan Ellison put it when awarding Ronald Moore the best TV Writer of the Year- "This award is for an astonishing job of making one of the worst television series ever made into one of the best television series ever made."

In fairness, the miniseries didn't really pick up until the second half, which apparently aired separately from the plodding first hour.

In further fairness, Django and Zod really come off as whiny twats with axes to grind.
I hated Django and Zod so much.
Schwartz, To be fair...Django and Zod, prefer Glen A Larson's Battlestar Galactica to Ron D. Moore's 2nd rate reimagining. I agree with them too.

I hope someone bumps one of those endless threads ripping apart the new STAR TREK movie at an appropriate time in the future.

Yeah, they can use the quotes when they do a 'Where Are They Now: Modestly Talented Directors of the 00s' about JJ Abrams.

dreary louse looks to be taking a shot at the title these days.

RE: The BSG miniseries - it's the main reason I never gave the show a chance. I seem to recall even Olmos making apologetic comments about the mini at the time.
Unlike Django and Zod, at least Devin ate his words about Abrams in his review of Trek.

I didn't get to see this thread the first time it was bumped, but man, what a trip it is. Mostly free of any sense or good taste.

Yep.

I had mercifully forgotten about Django. What an idiot. And he sullied the name of a very cool movie, too.

as a non-fan who watched the miniseries last night for the first time, i couldn't believe some viewers weren't sucked in immediately. I suppose my knowledge that the show goes on and the characters will be built upon allows me more patience with the miniseries, but still.... in 2003, this miniseries should have been praised for its maturity and sophistication.

I can't wait for the rest of the DVDs to come in the mail.

It was by most people. This thread was apparently full of people who hadn't had their morning coffee yet.

To be fair the original mini was somewhat uneven. But the level of vitriol it inspired? My God. It was actually unpleasant reading that. Zod and Django obviously have some Women issues seeing as they couldn't mention Helfer without saying "slut".

Still SJR is equally as guilty for pissing and moaning about the new BSG not being the old BSG.
Zod couldn't mention any woman's name without saying slut.
Wow, Zod and Django really have issues with women. Hopefully they have now shacked up together, each having found his soul mate.

The criticism of Trisha Helfer is especially off base considering how she grew as an actress over the course of the series.

The one thing I would say is that in the Miniseries she is made up and filmed in a way that really highlights every angle of her face. She looks sharp (as in a knife), almost like a human appearing...Cylon.

Fortunately the show runners quickly got rid of that concept.

I've honestly been more impressed by Helfer now that I've seen her do the rounds on other nerd shows. I liked her a lot on Supernatural, Chuck, and Burn Notice and she managed to play variations on her persona in each. Or maybe it was the hair color.
