No YOU'RE LAST MONTH!

It was EARLY LAST MONTH.

You all fly to each others families to eat Turkey and hate each others company...  Only to do it all again in a month?!?!?!

Your Thanksgiving timing is straight up silly!

Naturally my daughter would wind up getting sick with a high enough fever to warrant going to the doctor the day the urgent care places are closed. So ER visit it is. That’s a difference between 60 dollar copay and 200 dollar copay. Good thing I didn’t get that TV at Best Buy today. Thankfully doctor says she looks okay, but probably getting the flu.

That's horrible!  I hope she's better soon!

She’s looking better. She’s eating ice chips so that’s good. Cool her down and keep her hydrated. I probably could have not brought her in, but I was too worried. Better safe than sorry.

In WASPy families like mine, it's typically Thanksgiving that is the gathering of the tribe, with aunts, uncles, cousins, elders, and in-laws all converging on whoever in the family has the biggest house. That's why the day before and the Sunday after are the two days of the year for the travel industry. In most families that celebrate it, Christmas is typically a small nuclear family affair, just parents and their kids. Largely because we're still sick of seeing our relatives from Thanksgiving, as you suggested.

Ahhh makes sense.

I'm thankful Dalyn's wee lass is gonna be ok.

Ahh...went over to my folks' place for an early Thanksgiving dinner with my brothers and my sister-in-law, nephew, and niece, then we followed up with a combination birthday party for myself and my sister-in-law (we're a week and a few years apart, which is convenient.) Naturally, there was awesome cake. Following this, one of my brothers and I spent a good hour or so chasing after my nephew, who is a year and a half old and has more energy than every one of the rest of us put together, while his parents took a breather. Then they went home and the rest of us drank wine and watched Firefly. All in all, pretty excellent.

Anyway: I'm thankful for all you awesome Chewers. This place has been great to be a part of in the...holy shit, five-plus years I've been here, and there are very few online communities I've encountered that approach this combination of intelligent, lively, and mostly-friendly discourse. I'm thankful for Bartleby Scriven and Boone Daniels, whom I disagree with on lots of things but who always make a best effort at honest debate even when their views are silly. I'm thankful for Reasor, a cool head and a knowledgeable fellow who doesn't say a lot but always has something worthwhile to offer when he does. I'm thankful for Judas Booth, an all-around standup guy whose tipoffs in the Trumpocalypse thread have helped keep me going through one of the most stressful years in "current events" I've lived through. I'm thankful for Analog Olmos, who met up with my brother to talk shop about space doctorin'. And I'm thankful that Dalyn's little girl, who is ABSOLUTELY GODDAMN ADORABLE, is doing better. This place never fails to make my day a bit better than it would otherwise be, and I thank all you guys for that.

My Thanksgiving was great -- except for forgetting to finish putting the turkey away and accidentally leaving it sit out on the counter for five hours while I was out.  Two slices was all I got out of it.

We had a great thanksgiving dinner with some American friends. Pumpkin pie was delicious, I had no idea you could do that with pumpkins.

My family is having Thanksgiving tomorrow. Brother works at Walmart, I work at a movie theater, so we were working doubles all day thanksgiving, yesterday and today. I'm so very tired.

Seriously, thanks to everyone here. I know I don't post a lot, but the trumpocalypse thread is keeping me sane throughout all of this, and I'm always reading the post release threads. The depression thread helps a bunch as well.

So, thanks to all you wonderful fuckers.

That has happened to me like three times.

That's what happened to the leftovers of sliced bird I was supposed to get from Mom, hehe.

Me and the cat had a decent time Thursday. Ate and watched Lady Snowblood on bluray. Friday, had good pizza with mom and siblings.

The cat goes crazy for deli meat and other cooked meats, but this year once again he turned his nose up at my scrambled ground turkey. Here's him eyeing his plate with much suspicion:

And my plate. Not exactly gourmet level plating technique, but it got the job done.

It was really fun not having to cook at all this year. Should have taken a small cooler to bring home leftovers though. All in all it was great, no political drama, got to see the younglings I almost never see, quality time with Mom watching a surprisingly gory murder mystery series, and listening to my young (19!) half-brother's tales of his first year of pre-med at UMASS.

And of course, checking in on you lunatics via tiny iphone screen.

I'm almost feeling Christmas-y this year.
