That's not a trick question at all. It bothers me that this thread disintigrated into people trying to explain the simplest of facts to you.

I have learned a lot in my life on my own. It wasn't hard either. Most of the things I've learned have come from my experiences. Things I've read, classes I've taken, conversations I've taken part in. But I don't think I could learn anything from one of your posts. Unless it's how to write a run-on sentence that doesn't make much sense.

Okay, so back to topic...it was wrong to dismiss valuable translators just because they were gay. As is apparent every day, we need all the help we can get in Iraq to keep the extremists from killing our soldiers and diplomats. So it boggles the mind why something as trivial as a person's sexual preferences should be cause for their dismissal.

I agree with ZombieKilla. That was my original point, though I don't how we got into that back-and-forth with Rob. It's just stupid to discharge these men because they were gay. As I said in my first post on this thread, your sexual preference doesn't affect your ability to defend your country. Straight, gay, man, woman. It doesn't matter. All that matters is that you love your country and are ready to defend it by any means necessary.

Yeah, they made a "lifestyle choice" and stick with it for the sole purpose of pissing conservatives off.

I'll never forget the day I was looking at that little index card that said "Gay or Straight" with little checkboxes next to them. It was a tough call, but looking back, I'd say I made the right decision. After all, now I can join the army and translate Arabic!

That is, if I knew Arabic. But knowing Arabic isn't important. Liking the opposite sex...THAT'S the main thing.
