Dime for your thoughts

What the hell?

Replace FDR with Reagan on the dime?

I really don't have much against Reagan. I disagreed with some of his economic policies and some things here and there, but nothing much.

However, it just kind of bothers me that we are so worried about jerking off our former President with a memorial. I think what else bothers me is that the defense of this, at least in the USA Today story, is that FDR isn't relevant anymore, Reagan is more recent. Well, hell if that is the case, might as well give Reagan the dollar. I mean Washington hasn't done anything for is lately.
(I do have to admit I have not looked into this at all, so maybe there is a better justification our there.)

Just sad...Don't they have better things to do?

Why don't they put him on the $50? Who's on there, Grant? As long as they're looking for relevance...

Maybe we should change our money with every power shift, like the British do... I want Jimmy Carter on my haypenny.

Before you know it, they're gonna put Clinton's face on dollar bills and neo-cons will stop using money.

If you're going to expell someone from money the most obvious choices would be Kennedy and Grant. Kennedy's not going anywhere, that leaves Grant. And since I'm not lining my wallet with 50's, I could avoid the sickness that would no doubt occur when looking at them and realizing that a president who more than tripled national debt, while cutting funding to actually help people, gave weapons to terrorists, trained terrorists and didn't have enough balls to actually stand up for the errors of his administration is on the fifty dollar bill.

Clinton would be perfect on the 1 dollar bill. Think of all the strippers who would have Clinton in their hooch.

But Reagan on the dime? Give him a stamp when he dies but leave the money alone.
OR
Put Reagan on the $100 and fuck up all those hip hop songs-"it's all about the Ronnie's baby!"

Whatever....

Keep it the way it is...find Reagan something else.

I wonder if they had these debates back when in the pubs and outside the libraries?

I thought it was totally cool how the English put guys like Charles Darwin and Michael Faraday on their money.

Put Reagan on the $1000 dollar bill if his fans want him on the money so badly. They get their memorial, and when was the last time you saw a $1000 bill?

Is that your idea of feeling superior? By using this made-up term neo-cons? Since this thread is fairly stupid already please define it for me. I'd love to know what a neo-greek, neo-euro, neo-whatever has to say.

Don't try appearing smarter when clearly it's just smoke-and-mirrors.

For the record: Placing the face of a living President on currency is wrong even if it's of the greatest President.

Would kill these people to at least wait until the man is dead before they seek to immortalize him? I don't think that's asking too much and its not like its going to be all that long before he does pass away. The Pope doesn't beatify people until after they have died. It won't kill the Reagan worshippers to wait just a little bit longer before they move to have his face added to Mount Rushmore (and that is something else they have discussed doing in the past).

Why not put Reagan on the $10? He'd replace Alexander Hamilton, a conservative who never was President. There's really no point to shoving FDR off the dime - I didn't like his New Deal policies, but he was important enough that he should be on something.

Apparently Nancy says Just Say No to Ronald Reagan on your dime.
Sorry Ronnie but i'd like my money without your mug on it.

You know, I promised myself I would stay away not just from these boards in general but from THIS forum in particular. I obviously lapsed in another forum when my site was called into a debate. Now I have lapsed again when I see you being arrogant and stupid and no one even bothering to step up to the bat.

Neo-con is a term that has been around for at least thirty years, but has really picked up steam in the recent past, like say the last DECADE. And it's a term neo-cons don't even find offensive. Hell, some of them even use the term in BOOK TITLES ABOUT THEIR OWN MOVEMENT

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...326779-3265655

Such well known leftists as the AMERICAN ENTERPRISE INSTITUTE pretty much accept the use of the term

Please, before you start deriding people for "made up" phrases (as opposed to the ones that grew naturally out of the ground, I guess), learn your facts (to ape your "forceful" use of italics).

Beyond that - why is this thread stupid? Because it reports on a FACTUAL MOVEMENT? That there are people looking to essentially canonize Reagan? You call stupidity on this thread but without reason. Do you deny that there is a movement to put him on the dime?

Look at this MADE UP neo-con word being thrown around by such lefties as IRVING KRISTOL

I'm certain there's a point to that. Someone let me know when it is discovered.

I see kronos has posted in this forum, but not in this thread. Not even to gracefully admit he was wrong.

I'd like to now coin the term "Texa-Nazi" for George W. Someone let me know if that one has been previously created.
