Well, he didn't say that directly but that's really what he meant.

Edwards on Dean: 'We Can't Win' on Anger

Quote:
"If all we are in 2004 is a party of anger, we can't win," Edwards said in remarks prepared for delivery Friday to the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco.

"If all we are is divisive and angry and if all we do is attack President Bush and each other, then we will not win the White House in 2004," he said in a speech that aides billed as a critique of Dean's campaign methods. "And we won't deserve to."

There isn’t anything more divisive to ‘party unity’ than the faint scent of power.

Of course, the whole thing could be decided in a far easier (and eminently more fitting) manner:

One pig trough for each candidate: the winner is the one who devours the fetid swill in the quickest time.

Dumb or not the point still stands...there is nothing even resembling "party unity" on the Democrat side. Primarily because the one Democrat who stands even a chance of winning is not running till 2008. Therefore the whole Democrat side is rather a joke at present. Why waste the money?

Oh, there really isn't a Republican either...
