Movie Moments that Stick in Your Head

I'm talking about small, not spectacular moments that you often recall. Once again today I thought of that moment in "The Exorcist", when the Devil makes a bedroom drawer pop out in front of father Damien. Father then says, "Did you do that by yourself?" and the devil goes "aaaaahhhhhhhiieeeeaaaahhh". So, why does that stick with me? If I analyze it, I could say that it was a priest catching the devil in a moment of silly pride, and therefore, signifigant.

I wonder if other Chewers have those kinds of movie bits that they recall from time to time. You don't have to analyze it, it can just be.

When Kevin Dillon bashes that gook's head in (Platoon).

That always stuck with me.

Wow, Bunny, Lynch has screwed with your mind a bit too, huh? I think he put some glitches in my neural pathways.
Platoon is the only Vietnam war movie I've watched. I thought it was excellent. William Dafoe is one of those great ugly actors. He's not unattractive, he just has features that are little past handsome, in how extemely defined they are.

I can remember the trailer for Dragon Slayer being burned into my head as a kid. At the time it looked so fucking amazing, I think I blew a baby load. Still a cool dragon design, holds up against anything else in the last 20 years.

"What's your name?"

"Murphy."

Title - "ROBOCOP"

Robocop rules. You know it.

Every time I walk into a large crowded area, I always have an urge to say loudly "Hey, anybody seen a ghost?!" Every time I do, though, my friends look at me strange and start walking five feet away from me.

In Raiders when Indy is driving the truck and an arab man falls onto the hood, the look on his face is priceless.

Whenever I hear something about a Board of Directors.. or just that basic table of powerful people running a big old company.. all I can think of is how many little boys they have slept with or whatever because of Dogma. Love that movie..

In Se7en when they see the "sloth" sinner.

When Preston does that little shotgun switcharoo move in Equilibrium.

Mainly because the one guy about to be iced shouts, "Oh, FUCK!"

Heat
The nightclub scene. Always stuck out for me. All the little things, from how Vincent does the fake stick up on the door man, to the "You get killed walkin yer doggie" line, and ending with Vincent giving his men an order by phone and just hanging up in mid sentence. I mean, that's just making a scene jump off the page.
Bleu
Anytime Julie would swim in the pool. I thought the color in those scenes really made them unique and unforgettable.

3)Shark rears out of the water....."We're going to need a bigger boat".

4)"That's no moon".

7)When Bogie sees Ingrid Bergman in Rick's in Casablanca....

8)When Bogie first sees Lauren Bacall in To Have and Have Not.

9)The Gold Bikini. I need say nothing more.

10)Conan's answer when he is asked the question "What is Good in Life".

Gladiator

When the Emperor asks Maximus to reveal himself and asks his name. Maximus replies: "My name is Gladiator."

The Two Towers: Battle at Helms deep when Gandalf arrives with the Rohirrim. "To the King!!!!!" and charges down the hill.

The Silence of the Lambs: When Clarice first meets Hannibal Lecter. Walks down the hallway and we see Lecter standing, waiting for her. "Good morning." *Very creepy*

Right now, whenever I hear Mads' "Like a Virgin", I keep thinking of that daffy performance from "Moulin Rouge!".

Damn you, Baz Lurmann!

Purple Rain: Prince dedicating "Purple Rain" to his father, who just attempted to commit suicide, and unleashing all of his pent up emotions in the best rendition of that song ever. Everytime I hear that song, I think back to that scene.

T2: The hospital scene when Sarah sees the Terminator for the first time in years. The look of horror on her face is priceless.

Glory: The scene where Denzel gets whipped for going AWOL and then the following scene where Matthew Broderick's character learns that all Denzel wanted to do was get some new shoes because he's feet were raw and bloddy. Powerful scene.

Requiem for a Dream: The whole thing. After watching that film, I feel like sitting in a corner and crying for hours. It's too emotional wrenching.

Braveheart: William Wallace screaming "Freedom" instead of pleading for mercy.

Memento: When Lenny realizes that Teddy was actually telling him the truth and decides that to end the nightmare he would make Teddy his final target. "You're a John G. You'll be my John G."

Donnie Darko: Everything about it is hauntingly beautiful. I think about for days after I watch it.

That's what I mean, it's not TE Lawrence striding atop the train to a cheering crowd. You sure don't forget it, though.

Well there are many such moments that I could think of, but one especially that I have in mind right now, is Bilbo's 111th Birthday from The Fellowship of the Ring.

Specifically when he tells his story about the trolls to the Hobbit children and later on when he says "I don't know half of you, half as well as I would like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

The ending of Sleepaway Camp. No matter how many times I see that movie, and no matter how many other movies I see that are more intense, shocking or frightnening, that ending always makes my eye twitch.

I couldn't get the end of Dark Water out of my head for days. That shriek... Ug.

The opening/ending scene of May, just wouldn't get out of my brain either.

ANYTHING from Half Baked...

"Are you hungry, girl?" "FUCK YOU NIGGA!"

Five scenes off the top of my head, that stick with me.

The shit filled toilet stall in the worst bar in Mexico - Desperado.

Mad Man Mundt unloading the shotgun, as he makes his way down the flaming hotel hallway - Barton Fink

Chewbacca, frustrated as hell, trying to put C-3PO back together in the detention cell - The Empire Strikes Back

The last thirty seconds of Robocop - Robocop

The moment when Gertie starts bawling when the flower dies (it made me cry at 5, it makes cry at 22) - E.T. The Extra Terrestrial

Another insignificant one that I often recall:
"Office Space", the construction worker neighbor answers through the thin apartment wall, "No way man, I don't you fuckin' up my life too".

I always remember how the killer in Scream 2 told Randy on the phone just before killing him, that he would "never be a leading man". I wonder if it was a deliberately ironic remark about JK, being how the movie is kind of self-referential anyway. I think he'll prove him wrong.

During the final confrontation scene in Once Upon a Time in the West when "Harmonica" has memories of Frank stuffing the instrument in his mouth followed by the immortal words "Keep your lovin' brother happy". The score chorus swells and it is then that we realize why he (Bronson) follows the path of vengeance.

Doc Holliday's introduction in Tombstone. (and Val's numerous great lines in the film)
