I never find any good movies at Wal-Mart. I always read about people getting great finds in their discount bins, but whenever I go all I ever find is "Corina, Corina" and "Tornado!"

Bah-Humbug.

They should've gave away that DVD for free with every $50 purchase at Walmart. $5 is still too much to spend on that crappy movie.

Susperia ? Seriously? Wow, that is a great find. Your list did remind me of one lucky find lately. The Rats/Hell of the Living Dead double feature for $5.

Wait... Should that be considered a lucky find...?
No shitting you man, it was the single disc Suspira in the $6.88 bin, I was just as surprised as you are.

I hit my Wal-mart $5.88 bin (actually 2 for $11 for the holidays) the other day and found:

Dark City
The Exorcist 3
The Road Warrior...

...and Glitter!!!
Please tell me it was the Vincent Price House on Haunted Hill you picked up...
I'm thinking no, Con-man. These kids today...

I found The Gate for $6.88 at Wal-Mart -- so far my fave purchase there.

No its the remake, damn can't beleive people hate on this flick. I always thogut it had its fair share of followers.
IMO, the only reason to watch the House remake is for Rush's campy turn. Five bucks wouldn't be bad, but I would never watch it. I saw it once. Good enough. Dark City for that price, now that is a steal.
I love the remake.

Rush is great!

Plus Famke Jansen---yummy

Dark City? Don't waste your money.

I always thought the remake was fun as hell and well worth $5. Hell, I bought it for $10!

Easily the best of the Dark Castle pictures IMO... not that it's much of a struggle to be that...
I liked the HOHH remake until it completely fell apart in the 3rd act and everyone started running from that demonic inkblot. Also, if FEARDOTCOM is any indication Bill (not nearly as hot as Jenna) Malone will never top the job he did with that flick ...

HoHH is a great flick. And for the initial outing of Dark castle it has to get much credit. Just turn it off right before the inkblot appears and the movie is classic.

Dark City is an anomoly to me. It had Richard O'Brian (Riff Raff). It had a great score. It had a cool theme. It had some killer visuals. And beginnign to end it was the most booring utter shite I had watched that entire year. What the hell went wrong? Yuck.

Some of my best low budget finds.... (all 7 dollars or less)

Exorcist III (One of the finest films EVER)
Cabinet of Dr Caligari
Night of the Living Dead
White Zombie
Satanic Rites of Dracula
The Severed Arm & I Bury the Living (double feature)
Silent Night, Bloody Night
Carnival of Souls and Horror Hotel (double feature)
House on Haunted Hill (original) & Last Man on earth (Vincent Price double feature)
Count Dracula and his Vampire brides
Don't Look in the Basement (one of my all time cult faves)

Got about a dozen good kung fu flicks cheap too, with about 8 being classic Jackie Chan, but that is a bit off topic now isn't it?

My WM $5 finds:

Exorcist III
Creepshow
Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell
House on Haunted Hill

Ones I saw in the bin once but couldn't find when I went back to purchase them later:

Captain Kronos, Vampire Hunter (wasn't really sure if I wanted it, then it disappeared)
Legend of Boggy Creek (damned indecision! wish I had it now)
Trick or Treat (eh, just for the 80s nostalgia. not broken-hearted about it)
Freeway (Not horror, but my brother recommended it)

I keep seeing the Puppet Masters (the Donald Sutherland alien attack deal) in the $5 Walmart bin. I keep meaning to pick it up but just never have.

Me too. Around here it's always $30+ for the single disc!

My WalMart (Canada) Xmas experience

WalMart went crazy here. I got HOHH and Night of the Living Dead double DVD for $4.88, and Maniac Cop for the same price. True Romance for $11.66, Murder in the First ($8.66), Stealing Home ($6.88) (both the wife's choice!)

Good stuff

Are you kidding I love the remake also; I didn't wanna wait for the 5 dollar bin. Malone gave a perfect tribute to the spirit of William Castle. Only IMO the remake was alittle more fun. I loved that eery walk they gave Jeffery Combs! It was the first time Id ever seen that kind of carmra work in a film, except Jacobs Latter which had a slight touch of that. Definitely, the better of the Dark Castle releases.

I only wish they woulda left the zombie scene in.

I've only scored great movies in the 5 dollar bin when Warehouse went bankrupt and closed.

scored

Dune
The Thing
Dagon
13 ghosts (sad remake)
Fall of the House of Usher
Nosferatu
War of the Worlds
Frankenstein
Metropolis

Even though it’s only happened once in my ten years of looking, I still stroll over there and anxiously flip through, hoping!

I heard the producer on the latter film had actually done most of the directing and had Malone there as a creative consultant. Then when Warner’s bought it they wanted Malone’s name on the film, because he had more name recognition. But I don't know how much of that’s true.

Anyway, his name is coming up allot lately, apparently he's shifted from horror/thrillers and is involved in an Sci-fi/action, Script/ Future Comic Book/ Future movie. Two of my Friends work over at Dark Horse Comics, and said he was in there about a month ago, and got the bosses all excited about a futuristic project called "Phoenix Dust" about a hot, ass-kickin, chick and weird skin viruses. From what he’s told me it sounds like it has really good potential. I saw a peek at one of the artworks of a character that was definitely weird/creepy and like nothing I've seen so far. The only thing they seem to be concerned about is how much the film would end up costing, and money is always the determining factor.

If its a success for Malone, then the lack of feardotcoms success in the states, may turn out to have been a good thing for him.

Anyway from the few times I've gotten to say Hi at a Fangoria convention, he seems like a truly nice guy, I hope he ends up with more creative control over his next picture.

I bought a disc that had the original HOHH/Night of the Living Dead/The Terror for $7 at On Cue. I was happy to say the least.

Dude! How could you pass it up?! I would give my left nut to get that movie on DVD; Ozzy as a priest, Gene Simmons as a DJ, and a Solid Gold dancer as the lead! R.I.P. Tony Fields...

I managed to find C.H.U.D. in the $5 bin. I also got Suspiria (for $5) the same day. I was a happy boy. And just today, I saw that Boogeymen DVD in the almighty bin...I almost bought it, then realized I owned most of the movies that it had scenes from, so what's the point? So I picked up Jeepers Creepers 2 for $20 instead. Then they asked me if I was 18 at the checkout.

Stupid Wal-Mart...with their censorship and sanitization....but damn, they do have good prices.

Damn! Two people find Susperia in the $5 bin! And both are also from Canada! Hmm, maybe it's not a fluke...

To Wal-Mart I must go!
