AICN drools over MAN-THING!!!

I´m not sure if this is a legitimate review or a plant but it sure sounds good ...

I also dig that bit of news about Rodinoff writing a sci-fi gladiator flick. That genre is well due for a big budget update if you ask me! And has anyone seen this Legend of the Phantom Rider western flick he has produced? Is it any good? I think Fango covered it some time ago when it was called TRIGON - THE LEGEND OF PELGIDIUM or something like that ...

Yeah, Trigon got a title change to Legend of the Phantom Rider here in the U.S. It's a horror/western with heavy emphasis on the western. Personally, it put me to sleep.

This Man-Thing review sounds like an inside job, meaning someone close to the production, but I'm curious to see how it all pans out.

That's exactly what I thought upon reading it. It sounded less like a review and more like a love letter to the screenwriter who I wouldn't be surprised to find out is good buddies with the author of that piece.

Maybe it was good old Hans himself? I mean whoever it was basically said that the director didn´t matter because the script was so absolutely incredible that even a monkey could have done a great job with it. Which is ridiculous considering how many great script have been ruined by Hollywood in the past 100 years or so ...

And why is there no mention of the juggernaut that was SAINT SINNER? That epitome of quality horror filmmaking? That showcase of horror filmmaking at the peak of its form? That hemmorhoid-sucking piece of poo-poo?

But goddam if I don`t want to find out more about THE CIRCLE! I just hope it`s not a film about futursitic circle-jerks ... But hey, even that could work out fine, gigantic robotic boners and nano-tech spunk and all ...

PLANT
Sounds like a plant.

And me, I liked Virtuosity, and LVOED the Quick and the Dead (yay Raimi). Just for the record. I think this COULD be a decent flick though, but it woudl have to deviate from the comic heavily. For it to work, the Man-Thing woudl be little more than supporting cast, a boogeyman in the film. And the main characters have to propel the story. And how many film makers can make a movie about an entity and not want to overexpose that entity?

They keep his mysterious and this film could work.

They show him like the Creeper in a damned stupid Power Rangers suit and this movie will suck ass just like the Creeper movies.

The Creeper is a metaphor for rabid homosexuality and as such it was always intended that he should suck ass.

I'm not surprised that Harry would be drooling all over a mans thing

I could be a plant and it couldn't, either way Man-Thing's getting some respect, and it's going to take my money regardless of its good or not.

On a side note, I watched both the Swamp Thing's this weekend. The opening credits of Return of the Swamp Thing just showed panels from the comic book, informing us early on, "see this cool stuff kids? This is all you're goining to see of it."

Hey...I like watching Return of Swamp Thing. Monsters fighting each other WWF-style? It makes a great double-feature with Guyver II: Dark Hero.

legend of the phantom rider was boring, unoriginal and boring. lol

"Plot Outline: Two ancient entities reincarnated through the centuries face off time and again for an innocent soul"

That alone is enough to knock me out

Now Guyver II is a friggen great flick. They could have edited about 15 minutes out and the pace woudl have been better, but some nice fights with neat effects. Followed the Manga pretty well too.

Is anyone gonna see Man-Thing in theaters, I know I am
post #15 of 17
You see, the plan is to see Man-Thing as much as possible until the suits take note that even the not-so-big comic characters can sell popcorn. Then we're one step closer to a Phantom Stranger movie....
And Man-Thing rules.

I thought The Guyver II was better than The Guyver.

Nothing beats Infra-Man, though...

That review was such Hans Rodionoff or somebody in his camp. Hilarious bit. Plugging the script nine ways to Tuesday and future Rodionoff projects - that was great. Hope the movie's good.
