Hellraiser series questions

Thread Starter
I just got done watching Hellraiser and Hellraiser 2 and I have a few questions:

1)Can someone explain what exactly is happening at the end of the first movie where that Bum guy turns into a dragon thing? Also who is this bum guy any way?

2)Is the guy in the first movie who sells frank the box the same one in the second movie who at the end his face says "what is your pleasure sir"?

3)Are any of the other Hellraiser movies worth seeing and how does Pinhead return?

He is the keeper of the box I think

Jes...and the bum guy also I think

3)Are any of the other Hellraiser movies worth seeing and how does Pinhead return?

No

I think all of the Hellraiser films are worth viewing. I have loved every film in the series to date, and that is a rare thing for me with franchises.

I think the commentary, or something else said that the asian "what is your pleasure" guy was a manifestation of the Engineer, or Leviathan, one of those guys.

Well we're in it together then. I thought Inferno was a nice addition to an already shitty franchise. Love 1 and 2 the same, but think 3 and 4 are horrible. My biggest problem was Hellseeker. I always thought it was a shitty copy of Inferno. But I did like Inferno and thought it was written much better than 3 or 4.

Another Hellraiser series question:

"When will the ass-rape end?"

Answer from Dimension:

"We dunno! When you retards stop watching our asstacular sequels, maybe?"

Thank you Wetbones,my sentiments exactly.Prestigous?Ack!

I think Pinhead is a great horror character, but the people in charge of these movies don't have any fucking clue what to do with him, much less how to make a good horror film.I HATE the hellraiser films, they suck major ass simply because of wasted potential.I want to see Pinhead and the Cenobites(great punk band!)wreak havoc,NOT some timeworn story about a guy trying to distinguish between hallucination and reality. And THEN they have Pinhead come out for 30 seconds to say the usual"You have no idea the horrors that await you!"Blah blah.

If I were making a hellraiser film,I would have this unique idea where(GASP!)Pinhead is actually SCARY and is involved in hurting, hunting, and KILLING people.I would make it SCARY!YEs!I WOULD!It's obvious from the beginning that these films are doomed because the scripts have not one amusing idea in them.

But then again, plenty of people think The Creeper is a great horror icon.Whatever............

I think the series is fine. The first two are great. The third has flaws (several of the supporting cenobites were poorly conceived), but the film is very entertaining and has several great lines in it.

Part 4 is simply an incomplete idea, it was messed with and not released as originally intended. It had potential to be very good. I think one of the downsides was bringing it to space. AS with Jason X it was a bad idea. Some of the cenobites were a little better in this film though..as well as the queen.

Inferno, The last Hellraiser I have seen, was ok. I didn't hate it and I didn't love it, it was just simply...ok.

I am going to see the rest and I am always for continuation of great characters like Pinhead.

I don't care what anyone says, Hellraiser 3 was awesome! It wasn't a movie for Clive Barker fans, it was a movie for Cenobite fans, and it delivered. I loved the concepts, I loved Pinhead, and I loved the deaths. Like any fan of a Charles Bronson movie, just turn off your brain and dig the killings.

I liked HELLRAISER III: HELL ON EARTH a lot when I first watched it. It is very well shot, never boring and pleasantly brutal in places. My main problem with the film are the High-Tech Cenobites. After the first two films the idea of Camera-Head and CD-Thrower just seemed ... wrong. Still, there's quite a bit to like. I dig the scene in which Pinead walks into a cathedral and all the stained glass windows explode as he walks by them! If they ever release a halfway watchable DVD I'll probably pick it up. And the same goes for BLOODLINE, if Dimension through some miracle dicides to include the cut footage on the disc.

IMO the first two films are classics, part 3 is good fun and part 4 is interesting despite or maybe because of its many flaws. Everything else is cinematic diarrhea and needs to be flushed into the sewers of oblivion ASAP.

Actually, what they should do is just give Clive Barker a shit-load of cash and let him end the franchise as writer/producer/director. Let him tell the last Pinhead story, which if I remember correctly, he said he already has. Only way this series is going to earn any sort of integrity.

Barker is already making his next HELLRAISER flick. It is called TORTURED SOULS.

He did indeed write a story about the death of Pinhead but it has not appeared in print yet. IIRC Pinhead is killed by Harry D'Amour ...

1. That was a Puzzle Guardian. Every one of the thousands of puzzles is protected by a Guardian who keeps hold of it until a suitable candidate for Hell seeks it out or can be found.

2. No, the Box seller is a merchant whilst the face at the end is either a Puzzle Guardian or Jesus (depending where you read)

3. Hellraiser 3 is bad, Bloodline is worse due to studio tampering. 5 and 6 take Pinehad back to where he should be and are good entries in the series.

NOTE: People who think Pinhead should just stal around HURTING / KILLING peopek are missing the entire point of the franchise and are trying to turn it into YET ANOTHER slasher series.

I thought HELLRAISER III. was good. BLOODLINE sucked. INFERNO would have been better as its own movie and HELLSEEKER sucked because they brought Ashley Laurence back for an extended cameo.

I just can't condone a Hellraiser movie where one of the cenobites is created out of flesh and CDs.

I admit I wasn't a huge fan of that either but there were some real good scenes in there.

Yeah good scenes for a standard slasher.

But it just wans't a "Hellraiser" film. It had NONE of the atmosphere, none of the dark, gothc overtones of the previous films and Pinead wa smade into a slightly more educated Freddy Kruger.

He has twice as much dialogue in Part 3 than 1 and 2 put togetehr and I just wanted him to shut the Hell up and get back into the shadows (something that Inferno and Hellseeker thanfully did).

It's better than a lot of slashers but as a HR movie Hell on Earth sucked.
