I dunno but I'd love to see him finally get his SPLICE project off the ground. I read an interview with him just after CUBE came out where he talked about this film as his follow-up ... I even saw some pre-production artwork ...

SPLICE is about those two geneticists who experiment with DNA from various lifeforms, including their own. In the end they create a hybrid creature that has both their DNA and that from some nasty beasties. This results in a heated love-triangle between the creature and the two scientists which is awfully close to incest / child abuse or maybe it isn't? What would you say? Anyway, that's one wonderfully fucked up idea for a film, kinda like David Cronenberg on steroids or something ... Always those pervy Canadians ... I must be the climate ...

Everyone please pray with me that SPLICE gets made someday. It's always funding that keeps Vincenco from doing it. You see, the creature would have to be mostly CGI and that's still too expensive for him, especially given the weird and controversial subject matter ...

Was Nothing actually made? I read the script for it when I was in Montreal and it was pretty damn stupid. Light-hearted fun about two guys that make everything they hate dissapear until it's just them. Sounds like it could be potentially really cool, but it was kinda dumb from beginning to end.

That sounds very much like Relic. More the book than the movie that is...

So is the book actually good? I can't remember ANYTHING about genetic engineering in the Peter Hayms flick. There was some silly Indian curse and some bug that was transported to a museeum and ran amock. It made very little sense and sucked the ass end of the 90ies horror. And I even saw it theatrically because it was like the only horror film coming out in months ...

I thought the Relic was a good book. The sequel was good too with more a concentration on the FBI agent who I thought was intresting character (who did not appear in the film). But it's important to note I liked the Relic movie too.

To stay on topic I add my vote to wanting to see this Necroplis deal.

If I remember correctly at the end of the book we find one of the scientists is working with this mutation stuff and modifying it, changing it.

yes is has. its been making the rounds in festivals. he (natali) quoted it as withnail and i in space or slackers in space. though they arent actually in space. if you do a search on google. some reviews will come up. ive only read a couple bad ones. usually they give the film a thumbs up and anywhere from a 7 to a 9 out of 10.

the movie's about two idiots. its gonna be an either love it or hate it film.

Although I unfortunately missed Nothing at the Toronto Festival this year, I did get a chance to see Cypher ; and, regardless of the fact that Jeremy Northam gave an amazing performance, the movie was a little flat.
Nothing on the other hand got masses of rave reviews from anyone who saw it. But they also agreed that it's a love it or hate if film.

I loved Cypher. It's the best P.K. Dick movie not based on any of his stories. I did feel it could have done without 5-10 mins. Which would have made it a tighter film and give it a better pacing.

i like natali's work in general. he's fastly becoming one of my favorite directors. i always look forward to what he, alex dela iglesia and satoshi kon are up to.
