I'm traditionally hard to buy for. I tend to buy things if I want them, so I have everything already. It's a patience issue (I have none). This year, fate and the prejudices of others helped me resolve to be easier to shop for. I tried to be accomodating. I gave people lists of things I would like with many options. What did I get?
Well, I got Citizen Cane and A Beautiful Mind. Neither was on my list. Not bad guesses, though, to be honest. I can see why people would give me those. I've been considering the SE of Citizen Cane for a while. However I don't like A Beautiful Mind. And the real kicker: they're on VHS. Yes, VHS. 'I know y'all have dvd now, but you have the other too.' Yes, but the vcr hasn't been hooked up for years.
And from my mom: I got a power saw. A power saw. Since I moved out from my parent's house 12 years ago, I have needed a power saw exactly zero times. There were several things I actually needed though, and I'll be picking up some of them when I return the saw.
Anyone else get really odd gifts?
