house of 1000 corpses 2

so after reading of zombie's synopsis of the movie, and hearing him talk about how there will be little to no comic relief in it, i think i have a hard time believing it.

i mean, the firefly family going head-to-head with an "even more disturbed" family? i have faith in good ol' rob, but i'm starting to feel shades of the old "voorhees vs. texas chainsaw" comic coming on.

anyone else wanna weigh in?

I just have a hard time believing there will be "little to no" comedy, just given the way the Firefly family was set up in the first film. I mean, how can they still be those characters and not have at least a little dark humor? For chrissake, they're named after Groucho Marx characters!

On a related note...will the Captain return? If so, another strike against the "no comic relief" idea, imo. Not that that's a bad thing....

the captain will be back- i guaran-damn-tee it.

Yep, Haig, Moon, Mosley, and Black are all set to return. I wonder, as well, how he'll pull it off without the humor that is inherit in the characters, but we'll see. I like the fact that they don't get away with the travesties they've been inflicting upon the world, gives it a sense of realism. Sorta.

I remember in the early teaser trailers for HO1KC there were scenes of guys in biohazard suits digging up graves all over the property, and half-expected there to be something like that in the flick, but it didn't happen. I guess the saga continues.

I've read a lot of bad reviews complaining about how in the original Dr. Satan and his crew came out of nowhere, but that was one of the things I really dug about the movie, the turn-on-a-dime thing, the idea that as bad as things were, underground there was something even worse. I also really got off on the Alice-in-Wonderland, down-the-rabbit-hole setup, just b/c I thought it was clever and surreal and cool.

My point is, more Dr. Satan is just all right by me.

I don't see how Sid Haig is going to be serious while he's wearing big shoes and dirty clown make up. I do like the idea of the Firefly clan being on the road so I am really looking forward to the sequel. I wonder if we'll get any other weird creatures like Dr. Satan or will they be left behind in the underground.

There are few things more sphincter-tightening than a clown who ain't laughin'.

And did anyone else get a flash of David Bowie with spiked hair chasing a pubescent Jennifer Connelly at Toy's "underground" line?

No one can blame you
For walking away
Too much rejection
No love injection
Life can be easy
It's not always swell
Don't tell me truth hurts, little girl
'Cause it hurts like hell (echo)
But down in the underground (oh oh oh oh oh)
You'll find someone true (down underground)
Down in the underground (oh oh oh oh oh)
A land serene (oh oh oh oh)
A crystal moon, ah, ah

It's only forever
Not long at all
Lost and lonely
That's underground
Underground

Okay, so it's just me...

I hated Ho1kC the first time I saw it.

everytime I saw it after that I loved it......I cannot wait for the next one

I hope Rob gets all the money he needs and the time that he wants to make this into the movie that he sees in his head

not to mention marking him as a staple in the horror film realm
post #9 of 26
I liked the first one, and I guaran damn tee that I will love the second one. Rob, I'm there for ya.
I thought the humor was part of the fun of the first, but if he wants to make it even meaner then I'm all for it.

House of a 1000 corpses was my best horror movie of 2003.

Was it the best ? no, but it was my best.

Every things touched me. The carracters, the music (this is the house built on sin...), the violence(goriest(cruelest) film of the year)), great photographie and good humor, not to much, but just enough . It was the right kind of humor, not silly but dark.

So I have every confidence in Rob Zombie. It is my second most anticipated movie( after Star Wars 3).

I loved everything about the first one. I have faith in Rob that the movie will be great comic relief or not. I am so glad that Baby is coming back !! It does seem weird though no funny things coming out of Captain Spaulding. Can't wait for more fun with the Firefly family.
im hoping for HO1KC 2 to be a lot darker then the first, i mean sure the comedy was great but now we know the main players so i wanna see gore gore and gore and more of baby of course
post #14 of 26
Rob has said that Spaulding will be much meaner in the sequel quite some time ago. The only thing that's new is that all the other characters will be darker and meaner as well. It should be interesting to see how he pulls it off. I doubt that there will be no wise cracks at all but I can see how there could be less and there can always be uncomfortable wisecracks where you're simply too disturbed by what's happening to be amused.

I'm really looking forward to this one as well and I hope Rob makes many more horror films after he completes this sequel. THE NAIL must be made into a movie based on the cover of the comic alone!

For me, the underground stuff worked well. I thought I knew what the movie was, and then... I was scared out of my skull. I didn't know exactly what was going on, but I wanted to get OUT of those tunnels.

I'm looking forward to the sequel, but I'm hoping there's a little more plot this time around.

SPOILERS BELOW

speaking of House 1, I was reading somewhere (imdb, probably) about a rumored alternate ending where Spaulding pushes Otis out of the back of the car and drives the girl to safety, which I actually would have preferred over the current ending. Though it's 99% (no denying a possiblity that it exists) false, it would be cool when this gets double dipped if it was on there

I gotta say, I loved the first one so much, I'm up for anything. I can think of a bunch of ideas I'd love, but I don't know, I guess it may be foolish to have faith in a guy after just the one movie, but I've got it.

Whatever Rob wants to show me, I'll watch.

No no no- they can't fuck it up like that- I LIKED that ending, I've always wanted more movies where no one makes it out alive, and when they try to fuck it up with alternates it just ruins everything for me. What can I say, I like it better when everyone is dead. But I can see how you and others prefer a few escapees every now and again. I just like constant and consistent death and violence, but that's just me.

Sid Haig apparently told people at the WOH that filming is set to start in April for an October release. Sounds like a hectic schedule for Rob but at least he has a distributor with big brass balls this time around ...

I've yet to see the first one...is it any good?
Can you compare it to a classic humour/horror film to give me an idea if I should buy/rent this?

Thanks in advance!

The film HO1KC most reminded me of was TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2. And not only because it has Bill Mosely but the bizarre characters, how quoteable the dialogue was, the neo-gothic set design, especially in the dungeon ...

Not a perfect film but I found a lot to like and I'm dying for the sequel. Worth a rental at least!

That sucks about UZUMAKI ...

But speaking of the "original version" does anyone else think that Lion's Gate will probably release a different, unrated edit of the film just before the sequel comes out? Wouldn't surprise me in the least ...

Yeah, and I'd buy it again too! But I don't know, I'm blanking at the moment, but has Lion's Gate really done any SE DVD's before? Not really right? I know in my mind I'm thinking of their crappy Ginger Snaps and May DVD releases.

MrStiffie, you gotta at least rent this and check it out, it's a blast.

GINGER SNAPS wasn't released by Lion's Gate! That was Artisan, who have been bought by Lion's Gate a few weeks ago. Yeah, MAY was a pretty bad DVD considering but it could've been worse.

Lion's Gate doesn't usually need to do SE DVDs because their DVD releases are loaded with extras to begin with. What else could they put on a new DAGON DVD (except running commentary by the Old Gods as moderated by HPL himself) for example? HO1KC is also the only film in their catalogue that had to be cut for a R rating. So there is ample reason for an unrated re-edition and even Zombie himself has said that while he's happy with the version that came out in theaters and on DVD there will eventually be a longer, much more violent release. It's also the first time that Lion's Gate produces a sequel to one of their successful titles and I can't see any reason why they shouldn't give that sequel a little push by releasing an extended edition of the original shortly before it comes out. That's a common trick these days and it'd work too.

Hey, like I said, it'd work with me, I'd buy it. It'd be nice.
