The sermon posts on what is and isn't funny and who's highbrow comedy act is forced and whose is natural? That is some tired fucking material.

God forbid people be honest and occasionally confrontational in favor of passive agressive. God forbid people call out a guy who has intentionally annoyed many people with his overly dramatic temper tantrums and generally dumbass behavior. Everybody being nice to each other and metaphorically sucking everybody's dick does not make a community better, it just leads to grand scale flip outs that make Nick contemplate closing the boards. So, you can just go with it, or you can sit around on your high horse making the same kind of snarky comments you're trying to deride in this very thread, because THAT'S the way to go.

Donald, you really need to take a deep breath, step away from your computer, and get a little perspective. This isn't high drama. This message board is a place for most of us to have fun kvetching about movies and blow off steam while at work. You want to build a "community", go out and interact with the carbon based lifeforms face to face. Or start a website to carve your own niche. I know you certainly spend enough time on the net to do so.
But don't preach to us about how we need to stop acting stupid (your definition of stupid, by the way) or Nick will take his ball and go home. Newsflash-that's never gonna happen. Mark my words, Nick will never close these boards over Chewer shenanigans. The only way he will ever pull the plug on this is if he gets whisked off to Hollywood to work fulltime on the "Nightbreed Vs. Hollowman" project. Barring that, these boards are here to stay.

Now that I've got BobClark's assurances I know that I'll certainly sleep better at night. I feel even better about them thanks to the added snarkiness!

I absolutely love it when someone tries to break shit down like science because that's the only way to get it across to some of the cheap seats, and then gets heckled for taking shit too seriously.

Stop being defensive. That's how people who are bad at debating try to end debates and sound superior. And yes, this is a debate. Granted, the issue at hand isn't extremely important, but its still one worth discussing. Not all discourse is petty arguing, you know. Some people are capable of having, like, discussions without reducing things to petty bickering and backhanded jabs. It happens all the time in other forums, so why not this one?

What is there to disect?

Of course its not high drama, and I'm not making it that. You're confusing "drama" with "discourse". All the time people start threads saying "Paul Anderson Sucks" or "Lucas Sucks" but what would happen if George Lucas registered at this board? If the person in question had an oppertunity to respond, would that mean the issue of how good his work is could no longer be debated?

See, that's how the internet has lead to the death of good discussion. People can only seem to argue with people that aren't there or can't respond, and then when they actually DO get in a fight, they never address the subject in question, pretending that they're not going to read it, pure passive agression. Lord knows I'm as guilty of it as the next guy.

A. You have a few thousand posts on an internet movie message board, and your screen name is taken from a TERRIBLE director. You have little space to play the "get a life" card.

B. It already happened, I decided there were too many people I enjoyed communicating with here. But you probably knew that and were just throwing in a cheap shot at Devin's forum for reasons God only knows.

C. I've been registered here since June 2001 (this is screen name #2) and I've formed alot of friendships on this board. People I communicate with outside of the board. There is, nay, are multiple communities that have been formed thanks to the boards on this site, and many that existed before the boards. I won't lie, I DO spend an unhealthy amount of time on the internet, as do alot of us, so I don't see how its some terrible or asshole-ish thing to want to make a place we spend time at what is, in our mind, better.

Wow, that's alot of assurance there, considering Nick has atleast temporarily closed down the boards twice within the past year for non-server related issues. There are very few reasons for him to keep these boards open (they're burning money, they seem to piss him off alot, they're costing him money, nobody reads the main page, and they cost alot) and the fact that they still exist over 4 years later is a testament to his patience.

Once again, breaking this down into points:

A. On what authority do you make declarations like that? I'm not sure Nick would appreciate you talking for him.

B. Mr. Nunziata, I will pay your $27.99 to word censor Hollow Man and its variants.

So Addix, I don't really know you so I don't know how you opperate, but is this the part where you just follow me from thread to thread and point out my flaws in hopes of making me feel bad?

Just making a simple observation is all. Please don't flatter yourself sweetie...I'm not e-stalking you. In fact, I believe this is the only thread I have ever addressed you in. Of course if you could show me otherwise, I would be more than happy to retract that statement and declare to the entire world that yes, my life does in fact revolve around making someone who has absolutely no bearing on my life (and is therefore completely insignificant) "feel bad". I think it's time for an ego check, hon.

You'll forgive me for only picking out the most obvious one and not the thinly veiled snarky ones as well. See, the problem with taking the high road is that it's apparently really narrow and easy to slip off of. Once you slip off, the real problem is that somebody else who has no interest in the high road could easily point out the hypocrisy involved in both your "The boards will never close down" post as well as your attacks on Devin for his attacking of nerds while trying to pretend he's above that. See, geeks on message boards don't get to tell other geeks on message boards to get a life. It's like a hooker telling a porn star they should be chaste.

Out of curiosity, does this apply to others as well? Because I wouldn't mind trying to dupe you into addressing me in multiple threads just for the thrill of having an e-stalker. It would be nice to see stalking from the other side for once.

No snarkiness there. Wiskerface spends plenty of time here and his posts tell me he's immersed in this whole internet culture. My suggestion that he use his time and experience to create what he wants out of the net was sincere.
Also, please point out my further hypocrisy. I never claimed to be any cooler or hipper than the other mutants here. Recognizing the personality traits of Nick and Devin is not the pot calling the kettle black. It's simply making observations.

Let's not talk about sincere. I'm fairly certain you're bright enough to recognize in your own points that you are implying that Dan spends an inordinate amount of time on the internet and that he doesn't spend enough with those 'carbon based lifeforms'. Really, it's either snarkiness or failed humor on an epic level. It's more than an observation, most observations aren't pointed.
So yes, you do seem to be implying that you're better than Dan on an internet message board because you believe he spends too much time on...internet message boards.

Please stop refering to Chewers by their real names. It confuses me. I have a hard enough time remembering who is who by their screen names.
Anyway, file this under failed humor on an epic level. I was just trying to be clever and self-depreciating since I post here as well. Don't think for a minute that the irony of my actions escape me. As I noted earlier, I am just as much a mutant as anyone else here.
