Is that the same film as Lucio Fulci's ZOMBIE aka ZOMBIE 2 aka WOODOO? Silly Eurotrash fun but not a classic by any stretch. What were you expecting? And it still beats the undead shit out of Uwe Boll's HOUSE OF THE DEAD.

It's a clasic movie.

Whattdya want? Resident Evil circa 1979?

Apparently this is the only thread on Chud about ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS, so it's time to do some necromancy.

Anyways. After really liking NEW YORK RIPPER last year I decided to try and get through Fulci's catalogue in 2010. So I started with this, which I'm guessing is his most well known movie.

Love the look of the zombies, that sort of caked on make up look actually works in the film.

I'm not a fan of eye trauma at all so the splinter section was a bit of a toughie to stomach, but it's a fucking effective piece of make up work.

Love that weird last shot of the Zombie horde walking down Brooklyn Bridge with the traffic whizzing past.

It's also got the weirdest wonderful dialogue ever.

"I'd have settled for a boxcar"

"Takes after her mother, they're both crazy" which is hilarious given that he's trying to convince a police officer they were about to fuck each other.

It's a really fun film. Where else are you going to see a zombie battle a shark?

Also if you hate eye trauma you're sure going to have a helluva lot of fun with The Beyond. Fulci loves his eye mutilations.

Yeah it's a ton of fun, had a great laugh with the people I was watching it with. Although we all had the same reaction to the eye gouge. I love how melodramatic it is. If Argento movies and NEW YORK RIPPER is anything to go by it's a product of a foreign director working in English, but all of these Italian horror films have this great, weird, feel to them.

Jamie Hewlitt's Gorillaz production company is called Zombie Flesh Eaters...

Relevant? If you like Grolliaz, sure. If you don't, probably not.

I haven't seen this movie, so I don't have much else to add, other than I would like to check it out.

With ZOMBI, not only are the zombies exponentially slower than Romero's (one has to wonder how well a trait like that would go over now in the age of sprinting undead), they're in the most unsettling shape possible.

Their slow almost sleepy gate is made even more unnerving by the ones with gently lolling heads and the fact that they don't open their eyes much.

On a side note, the dubbing of the characters in the Manhattan scenes with a decidedly strong "New Yawk" sound is pretty ludicrous. My personal favorite, the black morgue assistant who proposes that the "death of the poor bastard was caused by massive hemridge due to a huge laceration of the juggler"

Some production flubs aside, it's the most griddy and nastiest zombie movie out there.

The FX are great and so is Fabio Frizzi's score.

A great piece of Italian trash cinema.
