Halo (X-Box)

Thread Starter
OK hate me for starting a thread on this but I looked back a hundred days manually (search gave me nothing).

I now understand the love for this game. I got it for Christmas and it ROCKS. I'm not a huge FPS fan but I figured this was a must have title and it's fun. Of course I've barely scratched the surface since I haven't played multiplayer yet and I'm not very far into the mission. It's absolutely beautiful to look at, the music is fantastic, and it's as addictive as can be.

Yeah, it's a lot of fun. I still haven't beat the game, though. I get frustrated with the Library levels later in the game so I end up playing the Silent Cartographer level over and over.

I first bought my X-Box to get some extra use out of my home theater. Since I figured my wife wouldn't be too crazy about me playing even MORE video games than I already did, I tried buying a game she could enjoy, too. She was never much of a gamer, but she did like Crash Bandicoot 2 on the PSOne, so I picked up that $20 Platinum Crash game along with Halo and Midtown Madness 3.

Wouldn't you know it, after a few sessions with both Bandicoot and her watching me play Halo, she asked me if there was a way to play with 2 players. After I picked my jaw off the floor, I showed her the control scheme, and we re-started the game and played in co-op mode.

She liked both the cinematic feel of the game, and the alien creature design. For the two weeks or so it took us to complete the game, it was a regular routine every night before bedtime to tackle a level, which would take us anywhere between 1-2 hours each to complete. Since you can't save checkpoints in co-op, you have to finish the whole level to save your progress.

God bless her and my unborn child she carries, but she wasn't exactly a crack shot. I tried teaching her the concept of the circle strafe, but despite not applying it in the actual game, she got much better as we progressed through the storyline.

Considering that she previously had ZERO interest in FPS games, liking Halo as much as she does is pretty damn amazing. We tried the co-op thing again when I got RTCW, but after the first couple of levels, she thought it was kinda boring by comparison.

Every couple of weeks, she asks me when Halo 2 is finally coming out, and she's looking forward to playing on X-Box Live after we beat the single player game.

Halo's world does a great job drawing you in. I have a friend who's read all three of the novels and is looking forward to more. The story is that engrossing.

Me, I wouldn't go that far, but I do appreciate its depth.

Gio - you're a lucky son of a bitch to be married to someone who digs on halo.

I can only coerce mine into co-op hack-n-slash games like Dark Alliance, Diablo, D&D Heroes, Return of the King, and Dungeon Siege. FPS games make her queezy.

As far as my progress in the game. I only just saved Captain Keyes. I've owned the game for a year now but it hasn't gripped me into investing more time into it. mheh, blasphemy.

I've probably beaten this thing half a dozen times. What makes this fun is the multiplayer, and if you can't wait to get in on some true multiplayer action before Halo 2 comes our way, I'd suggest picking up the PC version which now is available for the MAC.

I stand corrected. She wants me to get ROTK for us to play together, after my cousin brought it over and played it at our place. She's a fan of the movies and the controls are relatively simple.

Im so amazingly addicted to this game. I cant stop playing it. I need to get XBOX Live though. I bought my XBox because I want to get Halo 2. So I've been playing the first one to hold myself off until the new one is released.
