Firstly, the definition of an "unpopular" opinion is vague and subjective. Secondly, there are plenty of posters who have posted things that could be deemed unpopular who are still here. Overlord, Death Surge, JuddL all spring to mind as recent examples.
The forum used to be a lot more balanced, but the lack of conservative voices in that forum isn't due to some partisan cull. Even Grifter was never banned, and he was about as unpopular (among the people you seem to have a beef with) as you're likely to find. If right-leaning posters simply gave up and left the board of their own volition that's something they chose to do. Is there an atmosphere of leftist piling on? Sure. But that's the nature of that forum. It's just the way it is. Moderators could spend more time there and tell everyone to be nice and debate properly, but it's one sub-forum of a larger board and - fuck it - it's the internet. Political debates almost always end up leaning one way or the other. If that forum has become overwhelmingly liberal, it's through natural selection - not deliberate manipulation.
My point was to find out why you even care about the state of CHUD's message boards.
The only people who get banned swiftly around here are either those shilling a product, or those who join with a troll mentality. Now, you can point out how Brad or Devin act "trollish" as often as you like, . It's different when they do it. They're liked and accepted here. Others are not.
It's not fair, or democratic, but that's how it is. That's how it's always been, here and elsewhere. There are Millettes and Faracis on every message board I've ever frequented, so what makes this place of such interest to you?
As CHUD has never held itself up as the most balanced and even-handed web community, or publically derided other message boards for their lack of democratic merit, then it doesn't really matter how many times you point out this perceived double standard. It's not changing.
And coming from an newly registered anonymous internet guy who has openly admitted trolling in the past, and being party to the organised attempts at disruption that led to heavier moderation and low tolerance for aggressive new posters, your comments don't carry much weight.
We could become the paranoid ban-happy losers you describe, and delete everyone who disagrees, disrespects or doesn't fit in until there were just a handful of egotistical, elitist hypocrites left posting here. Why would you care? I doubt the healthy future of the CHUD message board is your priority here.
