GTA: San Andreas

Sorry to burst Verbals post, but its just been reported that the Sin City thing was a hoax, and in fact the next GTA will be called "GTA: San Andreas". They copyrighted the names GTA: San Andreas, GTA 5, and GTA 6. This was also the only level from the original GTA not re-made on new platforms, so it made sense. Sorry, no Vegas.
I don't really care where it's set, as long as it's as much fun as Vice City was.
If this is true, it's fine with me. Vice City already did the glitzy, gaudy neon city, so setting the next game in Vegas would feel kinda redundant. I'm not sure if San Andreas will be much different, but it would be nice if the series branched out a bit.

With a name like that I assume random earthquakes will be thrown into the mix...
Yeah, except for the earthquake connotation nothing about San Andreas shouts "Exotic locale!"

The next game will probably be GTA: Chugwater, Wyoming.
I already told you guys in my thread that GTA: Sin City was a hoax.

Anyway, I don't care what the next GTA is gonna be, it's still gonna kick ass no matter what it's called....
I think San Andreas will be LA. Just imagine how fun it would be to go into Watts, Compton, Little Tokyo, and all those other areas.

...... or the San Fernando Valley, so I can drive past my house.
Here, here.

Totally right on that one. I was looking forward to seeing how far north they went and it seems they don't go all that far.

I mean at least go with Encino...

One day there will be a Rocky simulator, where you train Rocky and have him run through the streets of Philadelphia, up the art museum steps, and jump around. Then us Philadelphians will have a game to call our own. Mini games to include Punching a slab of meat and chasing a chicken.

Bay Area GTA would be so awesome.

KILLLLLLL FRENZY!
Kill as many San Francisco masturbating alleyway hobos as possible in 30 seconds.

gay masturbating alleyway hobos. San Fran is known to be homosexual filled, so look for like thousands of restaurants. I guarantee this causes a big star with the gay community.
They masturbate on public transportation too, don't leave that part out.
As long as the terrain is hilly like GTA III and not flat (boring) like Vice City then I'll be fine with it.

I just wish someone would take the GTA game engine and bolt it onto a different genre. All that freedom of movement, all that environment to explore by land, sea and air.

Use it for a Dawn of the Dead game. Use it for a Batman game.

I'm just burned out on over-the-top crime games, I guess. I like the gameworld, I just want fresh games to play in it.

The new Spider-Man game looks to be taking the GTA style of modelling an entire city and letting you go anywhere/do anything.
Hey guys, look at Dan! He wants variety and originality! What's he smoking? I bet he's a reader, too.

I was watching "Ronin" last night and got the idea that they should make a GTA inspired "go anywhere, do anything" type game with online play where you and a bunch of people get together and rob banks, armored trucks, liquor stores, etc... like send out feelers to gather employees, meet at a warehouse (Reservoir Dogs style) and plan a caper... hell, you could even pick masks, or Res. Dogs like black suits. Assign one guy to drive the getaway car and zip through back alleys or French type narrow streets away from the cops. The more you rob, the more you make, etc... I know it's a rotten idea morally, but it's a video game and I'd rather have people rob digital liquor stores rather than real ones.

It's not Rockstar's fault that Miami has a boring, flat topography.
Right. So I sure as hell hope that they didn't patent the name San Andreas just to throw us off and come out with a Vegas game. I would love the story, but hate the city.

Maybe they should do a GTA:Aspen. Seems to be plenty of hills there.

Holy Shit.

IGN says 10 GTA names have been trademarked.

GTA: 5
GTA: 6
GTA: Sin City
GTA: San Andreas
GTA: Bogota
GTA: Tokyo
Grand Theft Auto: Sin City
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Grand Theft Auto: Bogota
Grand Theft Auto: Tokyo

Can we drive across the Golden Gate Bridge and shoot-up Skywalker Ranch?
That would be a nice edition. I would back that story line.

The prospect of Tokyo is what has me the most interested though, or Bogota wouldn't be bad.
GTA: Tokyo. Make money, increase stamina, and cheat death by running a hansome cab!
Scoff all you like. GTA: Bogota could finally give us "Clear and Present Danger"-esque alleyway shootouts, complete with sobbing orgasms as your colleagues die around you.

Brilliant.

GTA: TOKYO doesn't really make sense though, as they've always gone with fictional cities that are based on real cities.
Don't forget GTA: London.

The latest rumour I've seen online is that in the next game you may be able to travel between some or all of the places listed above via airports.

Can't see that being true. Would the PS2 even be able to handle several Vice City-size landscapes on one DVD?

I think it could, but even if it couldn't nothing says it would have to be a single disk. Get on a plane, please insert disk 2. Happens all the time with other games.

I would love to see what they could do with Tokyo. It's an interesting city, topographically speaking (that is, if they choose to include parts of the city outside of the land they reclaimed from Tokyo Bay), and you could have a lot of fun with the cars and even using trains for some serious commuter busting mayhem.
If the game is in Tokyo, there must be a House of Blue Leaves.

Not to sound like everyone on Gamefaqs, but thats one of the coolest ideas I've ever heard. Also, isn't this GTA supposed to be online anyway? I keep reading in EGM or something about one of the new GTA games being massively multiplayer.
I also thought creating a online game that utilizes GTA's "go anywhere, do anything" and utilizes it with other genre's would be cool.

An online, muliplayer GTA would rock. work your way up the crime ranks, gang warfare and such.

It would be cool to make it a little more difficult to die, but that when your character dies, you need to start over again.

I think I am asking for too much, though...

This game needs a zoo. I'd love to start fistfights with gorillas and set elephants on fire in a game world.

You might take a look at Postal 2.
