On March....
PS2 owners everywhere....(at least the ones with modems)...
will be able to jack into the 'Net, and try to escape a zombie infested metropolis!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone looking forward to this??
If so.....
Are there any plans of starting like, an online team of survivor horror....uhhh...survivalists??

Whatcha think!?!
definitely buzzed for this, as I am for any new RE title.

Online play is completely new to me, but would be great to arrange some kind of online sessions with people at this board.

I think this might push me to get an internet adapter.
Yep, this is what I bought the network adapter months ago for. I got dibs on the ingame name "Roger". The time is nearly come to whip 'em (and possibly get it ALL if we have time). We should start a survivalist "clan" or something. "Redneck Posse"?

Why not start a group called "The Monroeville 4 "!?!?!

I was so looking forward to this game when it was announced, then a little part of me said "dont get too excited...there will be a fee", and low and behold...You have to pay 50 for the game, like 100 for the Harddrive, and then 10 bucks a month. DAMN YOU CAPCOM!!!
I have to say, I wasn't impressed with it at E3, but I guess a lot of time has passed since then. You seemed to spend more time getting stuck in the cramped scenery or blocked in by the ghost of a character whose connection had lagged than doing any actual zombie fighting. The environment I saw was similar to the usual RE map - trashed building, corridors etc - which is great when there's one playable character, but when there's four people all crammed in there, it gets...clumsy.

Hope I'm wrong though.

If that's true, fucking forget about it.

Sorry, but its true. The Sony PS2 Harddrive is 100 dollars and you need it to play RE: ONline. It comes installed with FFXI on the hardrive, but still...Both games will have a monthly fee. I can understand the 10 buck fee for FFXI since its an MMORPG, but come on, Resident Evil could of been free damn it.
I've been reading this whole time that it would be free. Ack that just plain sucks.
I think in Japan, its like 9.95 a month, with 1 free. They havent announced here officially yet, but there will be a charge.
It's not even coming out in the UK.
Really? From what I know it will be coming out in Europe, but only as an offline game.
If its successful enough, it'll probably come out in the U.K.

Or maybe not, the entertainment industry has certainly denied themselves some easy opportunites to make money in the past.

Don't worry, just think of all the stuff that you guys are getting that we won't, like Channel four, and, uh, spotted dick!

...Oh, and Hear'say albums!
even if the whole online thing is that expensive, I'll still be getting it. and this game does allow for offline play, so there's still value to be had for those without online presence.

Like someone said, it should be coming out, according to tonnes of gaming mags, but as an offline game. Which I wouldn't mind.
And it was at the PS Experience.....
it is going to be fully offline playable.
Theres no reason you should have to pay to play this thing online. Isnt it just the same as playing something like Diablo or Baldurs Gate online? Go through the campaign with friends, blah blah blah, but with better graphics?
I thought the pay for MMRPG's went to the work on new content and patches, and for servers to sustain persistant worlds. The fuck are you paying for in Resident Evil?

The whole thing seems kind of stupid to me anyway. The point is, i think, so have a bunch of people surviving and being scared together; but whats going to happen is you get "l33t" players in all the servers who have beat the whole thing 50 times, trying to run through as fast as possible.

Or am I wrong? I dont actually know alot about the game heh.

If its free (no monthly fee I mean) then ill give it a shot. If its not, it can fuck right off.

I'm buying it purely for the offline version. It's essentially the same. I don't know why they couldn't have just put an offline version and offline multiplayer version as well as the online one.
It's basically the same except on and offline.
ok, don't know if this is confirmed but what I'm hearing now is that online play will be completely free in this country.

if true, that means you still have to fork over for the Playstation2, the network adaptor, a broadband internet connection (don't think it supporst dialup, not 100% sure on that tho), and a copy of the game.

and I still don't know if the PS2 hard drive is a requirement or not.

Talk about a Capcom fuckover

- Capcom mentioned that Biohazard Outbreak for PS2 cannot be fully completed in the offline mode, playing the game offline can only get to 96% completed, you need to play an all new mode, which will be available for download online by the end of the month. It is unclear whether the US / Euro version will be the same. Source: The Magic Box

Probably won't happen to the US/Euro versions but still that sounds kind of...malicious. All's well in business I guess.
I talked with a beta tester for the game and have some sucky news. First off...you cant play with friends from the newest rumors. You are placed in a random game and must play with strangers, as Capcom wants you to feel thrown together just like in the story. Also I think you will need the harddrive because you have to download new content as it comes out. Also there might be a possibility you dont have to pay an online fee, but who knows with Capcom.

If that's true, Capcom can kiss goodbye to me buying any more of their games. They haven't produced something really good in quite a while now. And if this turns out to be true, I'm not letting this company con me out of any more money.

I kind of like the idea of just being "thrown together". I just hope you can filter it somehow, so if you want you can play with people who are going through the quest for the first time as well.

Basically I want a "n00b lobby".

If I dont have to pay monthly for it (who, btw, thinks they will even play the online portion for MONTHS at a time? Stupid stupid.....) then ill give the game a shot, because it is a cool idea.

Besides, I need something to justify my network adapter purchase. SSX3 and Underground arent cutting it, so all i've got is Amplitude....though it is an absolute fucking BLAST to play that online.
