Fallout (series)

I fucking bought Fallout Tactics the other day for like 5 bucks. I never liked it that much when I played the demo a long time ago, but I just watched the incredible intro movie.

I forget....who was the actor that did the narration again? Like, in every Fallout game.

But yeah, Fallout is one of the greatest games of all time. Just watching the intro movie for Tactics makes me wanna re-install Fallout and watch it all unfold once again.

Nothing in gaming is ever gonna top the feeling I got from beating Fallout 1 with no cheats. Those mutants were hard....

Ron Perlman is the narrator!

I got to the end of Fallout 1, but I could never beat it. Damn super mutants. But it was a hell of a fun time getting to the end.

God I love these games. The second being my favorite despite the fact the begining is hard as hell. I still have hope that Fallout 3 will EVENTUALLY come out. eventually. MacGuyver is in the first!

I wonder what the console release will be like? It is supposed to ship tomorrow for the Xbox and PS2.

The console game, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel is developed by Black Isle, who also have another title, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, releasing this month as well.

That was so awesome when I found Max's dog from The Road Warrior.

It's weird, I can't get sound effects in either Fallout or Fallout 2 on my computer.

Regular music and everything, but no clicking sounds or gunfire or anything like that. What the hell?

I know most old games don't run too well on newer computers, but if someone could help me out i'd be grateful. I really wanna experience these games again....

That's a pretty common problem. Offhand, I'd say to try to different sound card settings in the setup program. (not port or irq, but Roland, and adlib, or whatever the fuck those old ass sound programs were called)

I wish I could find my Fallout 1 cd.

heh... my "fallout 2" has the peculiar feature of not being able to successfully save games on my latest computer, which means that i have to finish the entire game in one sessions. i can save a game while playing and then reload it, but if i close the game and come back later on, i'm forced to start all over again, which is pretty un-funny.

Somebody on the Interplay boards suggested disabling hardware acceleration in the Sounds tab in DxDiag. It worked. Awesome.

And now i'm trying to kill Gizmo for Killian in Junktown...

Ah, this brings back memories.

I think I might download some sort of trainer...I deserve to.

Although, a confession....I beat Fallout 2 with a trainer. Game was just too damn hard.

But like I said, Fallout 1 was done by the book.

I just played Fallout 1 ALL DAMN DAY. I mean, since fucking 12:30 or so.

I beat it, but with a character editor. Basically, I was unfuckwitable.

Still, being nearly invincible it still took me this long. Such a damn good game, and from reading the Interplay boards I found out a way to kill the Overseer. Serves that bastard right.

Really, it's the most devastating fate for a heroic character that i've ever seen. Fallout is a damn sad story. That's why it's my second-favorite game of all time, second to Half-Life. Hell, it could be #1....
