In desperate need of some help here...

In a nutshell, my DVD-rom drive does not see DVD's. Sees CD's fine. But instead of going out and spending money I don't have on a new DVD drive, can anyone tell me if it's possible to run a USB cable from my Playstation 2 to my PC? I would think it would work because the PC would see it as an external device, right?I've been Googling all night and have not been able to find an answer to that. Can any of you guys help me out?

Running a USB won't do anything, but there are inexpensive VGA converters that will allow you to use your pc monitor with your consoles.

My gut feeling is no. Of course, I have no technical knowledge to back that up, just an inkling. It may be possible with some tinkering under the hood, but I doubt you could plug a PC into a PS2 and have them communicate. That'd be like hooking a laptop up to an alien mothership and giving it a virus.

I know. I just bought this one from Amazon.com yesterday. Under 50 bucks isn't too bad. I called the manufacturer first because I wanted to make sure I could run all 3 consoles to a game switch, then run one set of cables out to the VGA box since the VGA only has one set of inputs, and I need 3. He said no prob at all.
