Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel

Bad. Bad enough to make me re-install Fallout 1 and 2.

There's just something terribly wrong with the game, and EVERY aspect of it reeks of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. It's so similar that I don't even wanna play it.

I'll probably give it another try, but damn...why didn't they just make another fucking RPG? What a waste....

Bummer.

I just read some reviews online and they arent too fond of a game that is an old game with some new paint and a severe lack of story.

That's exactly what it is. It's Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance in a post-apocalyptic setting.

It uses the same graphics engine (which is a good one, in my humble), they just moved the camera to a more top-down perspective. But I don't think I've seen a single positive review yet...

See, this just sounds perfect to me. Never completed either of the first two Fallouts, so BGA with mutants and machine guns sounds just peachy.

I don't think I have seen a really bad review of Fallout Brotherhood of Steel. I think I have seen reviews around 75 to 85%. And in my book, that's not a bad review.

The game certainly dilutes the original PC game - to make it a console friendly action RPG.

But that same dilution was done to the PC Baldur's Gate, to make Dark Alliance - and the forthcoming Dark Alliance 2.

So if toning down the RPG elements is a big no-no for you, then yeah, Brotherhood of Steel and Dark Allaince should be steered away from.

But if there is anyone here who liked the Dark Alliance game, then I think you would enjoy Brotherhood of Steel. It may be considered somewhat mindless fun, but that type of pick up and play style, at times, suits me fine.

And as far as the development, I don't think this game was ever going to be anything more than the translation that Baldur's Gate got for the consoles. So maybe some people had different expectations.

I loved Dark Alliance and Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes as well, especially for the same-screen co-op mode. I'll probably give this one a whirl and decide for myself.

After getting into this a bit more it's really not as bad as I first thought. I just beat the giant radscorpion in the warehouse. I have some decent weapons now, too...so the game is a little more fun. I think i'm level 4 or so.

I doubt i'd buy it, but it's a decent rental I guess....

D&D Heros is a great game.... my aspect of Brotherhood of Steel and Dark Alliance II .. is they are both enjoyable.. mostly because of the two player option, not many RPG's with two player options.
