Think I saved myself some money today

I was in the local video store and came across a Night of the Living Dead movie from York Entertainment. Not just any NOTLD, this one was being given the MST3K treatment. I was almost tempted to pick it up, even carried it around while I was looking but in the end decided against it. Anybody seen it? *looks at Foy* and did I do a good thing putting it back?

I know what 'CE3K' means, yet am mystified by 'MST3K'...anyone care to ellaborate?
Apologies for stupidity in advance...

Was it THE Night of the Living Dead and THE MST3K folks? Or some other Living Dead movie that Joel/Mike and the 'Bots ripped apart? Or some other group of people making jokes? AFAIK, MST3K never did NOTLD (but if they ever did I'd buy it in a heartbeat).

Hertz: MST3K stands for Mystery Science Theater 3000, a weird show in which a guy (Joel, replaced by Mike) is marooned in space by an evil scientist and experiemented upon by making him watch cheesy movie. Joel builds some robot friends (Crow, Tom Servo, Gypsy) to run the ship he's stranded on (the Satellite of Love) and watch the movies with him. So, they watch these flicks and make jokes and wisecracks throughout the film, many of which are freakin' hilarious. It's an acquired taste but it has a large fanbase, of which I include myself. They're not on the air anymore but the repeats are shown on the Sci-Fi Channel, and some episodes are out on DVD/videotape.

Great stuff.

There was never a MST3K version of NOTLD. NEVER.

Don't believe me? Go to:

However I did read that Mike Nelson is doing a commentary for a new version of Carnival of Souls...

You guys do know there is a "laugh track edition" of NOTLD, right?

It's like on that show on cable, where they re-dub kung fu movies with Hip Hop actors: Kung Faux.

They re-dubbed NOTLD and gave it a Hip-Hop mentality.

I can't think of a bigger insult.

What is worse, this urbanization bastardization or the 30th Anniversary Edition?

Tough call, I'd say.

Yeah, that's the one I saw in the video store yesterday. I honestly couldn't remember what it was called. So I guess I'm glad I put it back.

There was a WAY old school dubjob parody of NOTLD done by "comedy troupe" The L.A. Connection. It is fairly fucking rancid.

Mike Nelson recorded a commentary for FOX's new restored Reefer Madness.
