28 Days Later Sequel?

Does anyone know if there is any serious talk of making a sequel to "28 Days Later"? I enjoyed the movie, but I'm not too sure if a sequel is necessary. My friends on the otherhand think otherwise. Admittedly, I like the idea that maybe the epidemic is "not over" and maybe the disease has spread beyond Britain. Anyway, does anyone know?

Danny Boyle's not really a sequel kinda guy. Plus, I thought the twist of the movie was that the plague HADN'T spread to other countries, and to stop that happening the UK was basically quarantined and left to die.

At least, that's how I saw it.

Dude, when I first saw the name on AICN, I really thought that it was a direct to video sequel.

I have a feeling that joke will never get old around here

as for another 28 Days Later movie, I hope there is none

although I would have loved to have seen the ending that they storyboarded

that was a fucking heavy ending if it was ever made

Ok, WTF? I go to delete a duplicate post, but I also delete a previous post and then a reply with quote to my post from another individual?

WTF.

Anyway, I said I agree with what Dan said. And that the plane was checking up on things.

And L7 Productions replied and said there was dialogue from the pilot emphasizing this.

Yes I did say this and I was the one that deleted the reply since you modified your post.

Yeah, like I said, I didn't think a sequel was necessary either since its was explained that the U.K. was quarrantined. But given the fact that the movie was a huge success, the studio will probably want to take advantage of that by making a sequel--with or without Danny Boyle. Aferall, the movie industry is all about making money.

I know what you mean. I would love to have seen that too.

I'd like to see the ending they never even wrote beyond notes:

The heros are in a 747, being piloted by a blind pilot, and the infected are chasing after it, hanging off the sides as it takes off.

That would be cool.

(They briefly talked about it in the Fangoria issue with 28 Days Later on the cover.)

I would like to see the prequel, of the epedemic taking hold. That said, I thought the film is a perfect stand alone too.

This one could be a possibility:

"28 Days Earlier" - About the beginning and the immediate aftermath of the infection.

Yeah, I want to see hordes of people be trampled and turned into human carpet while they all try to get on the airplanes before they get infected.

.....And as the planes are shot down over the Atlantic, the infected dead bodies pollutes the ocean and the fishes -- infecting the food supply -- which spreads the epidemic to the shores of America and the rest of the world.

What was the big deal about 28 Days Later? I hated it. But that's just MO....

Cause not only one of the greatest british horror films of recent memory but it was also the best horror film of 2002.

Well directed, well acted and with characters that the audience cares about it was bound to be a winner.

Good point, good show when you actually care what happens to the character(s).

It followed a formula that isn't new, but its a formula that works.
