Reginald VelJohnson was in "Crocodile Dundee". He played a limo driver named Gus.
Reginald Veljohnson was in a shitload of stuff. I keep seeing him in cop roles whenever I watch stuff from the '80s.

He's hard to spot because back then he weighed a lot less.
I watched George Mieles' A Trip to the Moon, and Edwin S Porter's The Great Train Robbery. Yeah, I'm taking a Development of Cinema class. It's a prerequisite for the Film and Video Production major.
You guys need to check out Wolfen then.
VelJohnson is in A Trip to the Moon.
Also... in my fantasies.
He plays "The Moon".

(courtesy of 'Obvious Gags Inc.')
VelJohnson is in Ghostbusters. His first movie and...he plays a cop.

The girl that plays the teenage version of Amy Smart in "The Butterfly Effect" played the young Margot Tenenbaum in "The Royal Tenenbaums".

Knew I recognized her from someplace. Thank you IMDB.
Reginald VelJohnson was also in Yuletide in the 'hood .

...and a good time was had by all.
VelJohnson... I'd tap that ass.

And he stole all of our hearts in doing so.

That John Michael Higgins, Natasha Lyonne, Patton Oswalt, James Remar (!), and Callum Keith Rennie (who was great in the flick "Last Night") are all in "Blade: Trinity".

Interesting casting all over the place in that movie.
I learned that silent comedies done by Mack Sennett or Charlie Chaplin are hilarious.

Why, of course.
I learned today that "Fletch" would be funny if Chevy Chase hadn't tried so hard.
I wish only Matchstick could post here.

Yeah, this one has me losing my will too.

To keep on track:

I learned yesterday that Don McKeller has a new movie he's working on called "Childstar". I think the guy is extremely talented and look forward to catching anything he's involved in. Just a taste of his career: He wrote, directed, and starred in a really nifty, low budget end of the world movie called "Last Night", wrote "The Red Violin", appeared in Egoyan's "Exotica" and Cronenberg's "eXistenZ". Anyway, the guy has had a nifty career so far, and I'm glad to see he is keeping it up.

This statement is so wrong it transcends words.

That the ubiquitous Brian Cox was in the Amanda Peet flick "Whipped". He played Italian Bicycler.
Seems I struck a cord with some folks.
Today I learned there are still Pokemon fans in this world, albeit ever since Star Leauge put down their evil cult, its followers are few and scattered.

Still, quite disturbing that even a few remain.

Seconded. I also wish Matchstick had a weekly column of sorts at CHUD.

I learned that the film HERO is sex for the eyes.
Matchstick -- I play this game alot. And it's a fave. Great idea for a thread. Or a column.
Jesus, I said "fave" again. After promising myself I wouldn't.

I bust "fave" in Literati quite a bit, for some reason. Anyway, thanks for the kind words. You guys should chime in with your own "movie stuff". That's why I created the thread. I figured it'd be a cool place to collect tiny movie info that struck folks as odd/interesting/non-essential/ completely essential. I'm an IMDB junkie so I'm constantly finding out weird bits of (possibly incorrect) info. I also watch a lot of movies on tv so it's fun to uncover shit just by watching them. For example, I watched the tail-end of "40 Days and 40 nights" last night on some movie channel and I uncovered the fact that I laughed at the final joke.

That was a sad realization.

Also, watching that movie it reminded me of the fact that good old Glenn Fitzgerald is in it, who has been good in everything I've seen him in - "Flirting with Disaster", "Series 7: The Contenders", and "Buffalo Soldiers"

I learned this last weekend: Mischa Barton is the dead girl who was poisoned by her mom in The Sixth Sense.

I also vote for more fun posts by Matchstick. He funny.

Today I learned that Paul Walker had more acting chops when he was 13 playing Professor in the cult fave Monster In The Closet than he could even fathom nowadays. Maybe that dong-thing that came out of the monsters mouth sucked the will to go beyond a Troma level of acting...
i learned that in wishmaster these actors played:

Tony Todd (the candyman)
Robert Englund
Kane Hodder
Ted Raimi (sam's brother)
Verne Troyer

This weekend I learned:

"Mindy Marin" was the casting director for the last two pictures I saw theatrically (Open Range, Paycheck) taking over from "Mike Fenton" and "Mali Finn" as the most ubiquitous name I've noticed occupying that cheeky post-supporting player credit slot in films. She seems to work a lot with John Woo, which means she was responsible for the sublimely cast Face/Off, though she also thought Noah Emmerich would make a convincing racist in Windtalkers, a casting mistake that ranks up there with her worst: Winona Ryder as a grungy exorcism survivor in Lost Souls.
This weekend I learned seeing C. Thomas Howell violently die from shotgun wounds still doesn't make up for having to sit through an hour and a half of Jake Busey poorly trying to echo Rutger Hauer while still looking like the long lost brother of the Chatterer Cenobite.
Spoiler! spoiler! spoi......oh, right, I'm not actually going to see this picture...
I'll happily send you the DVD if you're ever in the mood for a bout of S&M rivalling the last two Batman movies.

While looking up Udo Kier on the IMDB, found out that "Dracula 3000" is going to exist. Casper Van Dien plays Van Helsing. Perfect.

More perfect, however, is the plot:

"Count Dracula terrorizes the crew of a spaceship."

According to the IMDB, John Cusack has nothing in the works for 2004. Um...please tell me I've been misled.

As a side note, Piven does.
Moe had it in his contract that he got to choose new Stooges when the others started dying/retiring, hence the Shemp/Curly/Shemp/multiple Curly Joes succession.

Well, I think it's interesting, goddammit.

I just learned that San Dimas is actually a town in California.

For some reason, I'd always just assumed it was a fictional place made up for Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

And Coolio playing "187" which, for people who don't know, is the police code in LA for murder. If that isn't a clever character name, I don't know what is.

I'm so buying that when it comes out on video. I'm also sending my kids to San Dimas High.

Yeah, and none of the people talk like surfers either. Damn mis-leading 80's movies.

The only reason I moved down here was to hang with the likes of Stoney, Bill and Ted, and that chick from Valley Girl.

But the goddamn movies lied to me. No one acts like that anymore. Or ever.

Oh, and the SF Valley isn't all rich people.....unless by rich people you mean people buying fruit from the back of trucks on Sherman Way. And there are about 10 trucks in a 4 block span.

Oh, and if you go within 1,000 feet of the Fox Plaza with a camera you'll be sniped with a high powered rifle. That shit hurts!

I just wanted a picture of me saying "Welcome to the party, pal!" in front of the building. Am I so wrong?

LA's not all it's cracked up to be.

Coolie was in a movie that was shot in my school over Christmas break. My school has 150 students.

*adds Coolio to idol list*

I thought Cusak was going to be in the next Uwe Boll adbomination Alone in the Dark, which I also thought was coming out this year.
