What if someone cool bought DIMENSION FILMS?

As everyone knows Lion's Gate (=cool) recently bought Artisan (=sucked ass).

This article got me thinking ...

http://www.creature-corner.com/news4...airwitch3.php3

It may not be the best example (I'm not keen on BW3) but it goes to show what a change in owners can achieve. Suddenly a film project that was dead and buried is being talked about again.

Now what if someone cool and actually interested in horror would buy Dimension Films from Disney? I know, I know, it will never, ever happen, but it's funny to ponder the possibilities.

Tons of great foreign horror films that have been rotting on their shelves for years would get a theatrical or DVD release. We'd finally get that unrated, uncut version of SCREAM. They'd stop burping out those god-awful HELLRAISER sequels and maybe give the series to someone who actually has some decent ideas. They'd get Rob Zombie to do his lang dead (the irony!) CROW film now that he's a hot property. There'd be no THEY 2 ...

That could be one of the best things to happen to the horror genre.

I would kill to see just ONE MORE decent Hellraiser flick.

Didn't Dimension put out Jason X? If so this would be a great, great thing.

Ok. That still means we have a whole lot of suckage to contend with even if this were to happen.

At least there'd be no more HALLOWEEN suckquels.

Then check out the brilliantly directed, well written "Hellraiser: Inferno" or lovingly shot and intiguing "Hellraiser: Hellseeker".

Both more deserving of a cinema release than the awful "Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth" and "Hellraiser: Bloodline".

If Rick Bota was allowed to do a HR film on a big budget for wide release I'd be in heaven...

I've seen both, though it has been a while now. From what I remember, Inferno shouldn't have even been a Hellraiser movie because Pinhead and gang were barely even in it. It seemed like the whole Hellraiser angle was thrown on top of an entirely different movie. I did like the part in the beginning where the two female cenobites were caressing the lead with their hands UNDER his skin.

It's a Weinstein cashcow still, isn't it (I mean they probably make a fair wad out of it, for relatively little investment ?) so why the hell would they give that up?

But yes, it would be great if some like Raw Nerve or Raimi's outfit got in charge of that puppy.

The Halloween franchise sits squarely in the lap of Moustapha Akkad. He'll keep churning them out until the day he dies, regardless of the studio.

Actually, longer, now that his son is in on it. We can't even sit back and wait for him to kick it anymore. We could get new Halloween sequels every couple of years for the rest of our lives...

Jesus that's scary.
