cabin fever

I really enjoyed the movie again . I hadn't seen it since the theater. I love the dog scene that was good and gross. What is up with chick-vision. That is funny I may have to try and watch it with that . That is silly. Lemonade anyone?
I thought the movie was ok. I really didn't think it was perticurly gory at all! That disapointed me!
I loved seeing it again on the HT. Funnier than hell. I hang out with people that remind me of some of the characters which makes it even funnier. Minus the hot chicks unfortunetely. Not much gore but what was there was top notch.
The Rotten Tomatoes are worth the price of the DVD alone.

Not to mention I liked this better then They, Darkness Falls, Ghost Ship, Gothica or any other horror flick that has come out recently (sv. TCM remake) ...

Just started the Dir Commentary and "Eli" seems like a decent guy.
Every time somebody says "Not Gorey at all!!!" on these boards, I feel like such an old man. What would it take, really? Evisceration over the opening credits and then not a single scene in the movie where someone was NOT dripping guts on the floor?

I thought CF was very gory. HO1KC too. But I guess it's b/c I fart dust.
I feel that gore is often mistaken for horror.

But anyway.....I kinda liked this. Nothing particularly special, and some of the random crap (the cop charecter was stupid. The Pancakes scene was absoloutly cringe worthy.) was almost too much. But overall, I thought it was decent.
I admit I've only seen this once, but I don't even REMEMBER the pancakes scene. I guess I'll have to watch it a few more times when I win a copy (HOPE HOPE HOPE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE).
I saw this at the Drive-In and I almost fell out the back of my truck at the Pancake scene it was so damn funny.

Anyone know a good site to get the easter eggs for this?

We already discussed this here:

They're pretty funny.

I didn't find one flaw with the movie

well....maybe a bit at the end, at the underaged drinking party

twas a bit predictable

Picked it up and watched it again last night. Good, goofy fun with a lot of lowbrow humor and some questionable acting. I like it for what it is -- a low budget homage to a bunch of classic low budget 80's cult classics. It builds tension nicely, in spite of some one-note characters and some truly dorky scenes. I'd rate it about on par with WRONG TURN, which is to say that it's slightly above average but nothing monumental.

All in all, big dumb fun, though anyone who claims this as one of the best horror films of the last decade is GREATLY overstating. Hell, it wasn't even the best horror film released last year. In a year where we saw the release of MAY, 28 DAYS LATER and the TCM remake, CABIN FEVER can't help but fall short in comparison. But I enjoy it for its energy.

Just so you know 28 Days Later sucked.

Thanks for that useful piece of information. Glad to know everyone on the entire fucking planet thinks just like you and shares your opinions. Maybe next time they'll check with you before they bother releasing a movie.

I disagree

I wasn't particularly thrilled with Cabin Fever. I felt that Roth should have stuck with one genre - either horror or comedy. A combo horror/comedy would have been great, but based on the final product that is Cabin Fever, I don't think it would have worked. One could argue that Cabin Fever already is a horror/comedy, but I sorely disagree. In fact, I'm going to go so far as to say that I don't really regard Cabin Fever as a horror film at all - hybrid or otherwise. There just isn't anything scary to me about gore. If Roth would have tried to make a true horror/comedy, and not an unbalanced jumble of one and the other (horror and comedy), then the gore would have been fine. As it is, the gore just isn't enough to call Cabin Fever a horror film - and you just can't call it comedy, either. Hell, I'm at a loss here - what would you call it? My head hurts... I need to watch something stupid to soothe my mind - maybe Freddy vs. Jason...

How about American Wedding

I was really disappointed in Cabin Fever. It was hyped so much as a "scary" movie, and it just wasn't. I didn't find it particularly gory or funny. I will rent this over the weekend to give it another shot, sometimes movies are better the 2nd time. I think Wrong Turn was much better than Cabin Fever, those inbred hillbillies were scary IMO!

But what do you really think, Floyd?

First, gotta disagree with on the 28 Days Later, man.

Never got around to seeing Cabin Fever even though I had it at my theatre, but just picked it up today and watched it. My main complaint....that's a long ass time to wait on a menu screen to see Stephanie Swift!

Oh....the movie. Well, there was no way it was gonna meet the expectations I had in my head going into it, but I dug it. And I'm pretty sure now that the first time viewing is done, I'll dig it much more the second time around. But yeah, I thought it was a good time. And as the comparison is being thrown around, I liked it better than Wrong Turn for whatever that's worth.

Oh yeah, Angelo Badalementi's music is simply the best. Always has been, always will be. Even with just the three songs I'll have to pick up the CD.

Sorry about the excessive palm sweat...I'm thinking about having that looked at.

Thanks for pointing out the Eggs.

Man, if I believed the marketing run on this thing, I would have been disappointed as well, but I didn't, instead I read the reviews here at the Corner and went in and got what I expecting.

Etrigan was mighty pleased, and what really helped was reading all the interviews with Roth. Helped create an appreciation for the guy and what he was doing; I like to see Fanboys/gals in the light saying shit all of us have been saying forever and spreading the Gospel.

Scary? No

But then again, neither was ED 2 and although CF cant touch it, it was as much as a horror film as evil dead2.
oh and Roth mentions the Corner in an interview with Arrow over at Joblo, it was posted today.
Yeah, I guess you gotta admit that no matter what you felt about Cabin Fever, its success - and Eli Roth's success - is only a good thing. Gives cheap-ass, amateur (and by amateur, I mean only a small, select group of people have seen anything I've ever made, which doesn't amount to a lot) filmmakers like myself some hope...
yeah, but it also means that Roth gets to make more movies. Personally I look forward to his next one the way most look forward to Uwe Boll's next.

Ooooh harsh. I admit Im a geek fanboy of Roth, since he is working on something with Richard Kelly, another director I think can do no wrong, I freaking out.

Hopefully its not something that turns out craptastic.

But to each his own, if everyone agreed then we would have nothing to post about each day

Just so you know, 28 DAYS LATER ruled, and CABIN FEVER didn't contain one tenth of the stylish atmoshphere, detailed characterization or nuanced dialogue exhibited in Boyle's far superior film. It's my opinion that 28 DAYS LATER will rightfully be remembered as a classic horror flick, while CABIN FEVER will be remembered as a moderately well-done low budget flick. It's fine either way. Notice the part where I used the word `opinion?' Maybe you wanna look over it again, so that your future posts won't be so childish and annoying.

Also, just so you know, a comma should go after the word `know' in your sentence. Thanks for playing.

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere on the boards got a wee bit touchy?

People are always posting stuff like the "just so you know" comment. I thought the implied "Just so you know, [it is my opinion that] 28 Days Later sucked" was a given.

But I'm a forgiving soul...

I agree.

And no offense to anyone, but can someone explain to me the relevance of the pancakes scene?

That's it, Standridge! Let's step outside! Yer dead meat, pal. Grrrr.

Anyway, sorry, but I just get annoyed with those single-line "it sucked" missives, particularly after I've posted a fairly balanced opinion of my own.

Ah, well.
If we're gonna have it out on the boards, guys, let's go at it in style. We could pull off some sweet Freddy vs. Jason stuff... On second thought, let's not try that. Let's just all get drunk. Drinks are on me!

Cabin Fever

Watched this movie last night and it left me with a luke warm feeling. The shaving scene was the sickest yet funniest thing in the movie. I think Roth tried to hard to make it "scary" yet insert some laughs. What I can give Roth respect for is bringing a decent story when someone else would have just had the kids running around with their skin falling off. The movie had a good set up, the second act was intense, which was what I liked the most but the payoff was rather mild. This movie was sort of a let down for me, too much hype killed it, I guess my expectations were too high.

However a movie that has passed my expectations and I will go on record as saying is a new horror classic is May -
one of the best movies to come out in the past couple of years period.

watch it with commentary ELI is a GOD

oddly enough I thought the shaving scene would be more disgusting

I had an image of her shaving her flesh off when it ended up looking like just how they did it, apply the special effects make-up the put on the shaving cream.....so when she shaved it off it would appear that she was shaving off her skin.

More of a nit-pick, but over all I was very very happy with the movie

Goin to go get some sake and miso soup...then I'll watch it with the directors commentary

SUSHI FOR THE WIN!!!!

I picked up the Cabin Fever DVD last night, just for shits and giggles, and while my opinion of the film hasn't changed much (see above posts), I'm digging the commentaries. Then again, I have several DVDs of films I wasn't all that impressed with, but I love to listen to their commentaries anyway. Go figure.

Watched it a few times on DVD. Still funnier than sin.
