Who do you guys consider a better actor- Steve Buscemi or John Turturro?

Well, the reason i'm asking this is because they are often compared actors, and would like to know what everyone else here thought? Who's more versatile and better at his craft? Obviously i realise, Steve Buscemi is far more popular and people know him more.

"Define irony: a bunch of idiots dancing around on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash."

John Turturro’s star has been on the wane for a good few years now, which is a pity as I quite like his unnerving screwball antics.

As for Buscemi, well I think he might be better served moving into full-time directing. Before he completes his transformation into walking talking self-parody

Buscemi showed he can avoid self-parody with Ghost World. He wasn't a collection of tics, but a full fledged person. Same with Tree's Lounge.

But overall, JT is the better actor. His work in Barton Fink trumps anything Buscemi has done.

I agree with that. To me Buscemi is a (very) good character actor who blossoms in supporting roles. John Turturro on the other hand has the raw talent to play lead or supporting, but I think he lacks application - and the good sense to choose the right film.

Buscemi and Brad Dourif need to make a film together. CRAZY!

That would probably require titanium-reinforced film.

Buscemi is one of my favorite actors, he makes any movie he's in better just because he's in it (like Christopher Walken, but not as much of a character actor). I also think he is one of the best people in Hollywood. He is so down to earth and normal that it's no wonder why he's in so many films. But for the greatest actor, I'd probably give it to Turturro. Yes, Buscemi should've gotten an Oscar for Ghost World but Turturro has more range. Who else can play a man with writers block, an amazing poker player, and a child molestor and make them all unique and funny?

They are both great but I give the edge to Buscemi. I'll admit that I haven't been blown away by anything he's done lately but I think he's going to be great on the upcoming season of "The Sopranos."

I gotta go with Buscemi. They're both great actors, but Buscemi is from the same town as me. So my opinion is biased.

I like Buscemi, but I have to go with Turturro. The guy has more range. Plus he isn't as tainted by Satan (aka Adam Sandler) as Buscemi is.

Ummmmmmmm..... you have seen Mr. Deeds and Anger Management right?

Just checking.

Buscemi - he is the Peter Lorre of our generation!

Turturro. He has better range than Buscemi does. It's a shame he's been slumming it for a while, but his work in "Barton Fink", "Do the Right Thing", and "O Brother Where Art Thou?" make up for any shizzity films he's been in.

Buscemi's great, but he could never play a complex character like Turturro could.

And these films would be?

It's quite funny though, one of my friends says the same thing.

But then again, he's only seen him in The Big Lebowski and Mr. Deeds.

But Box of Moonlight, The Truce, Barton Fink, Quiz Show, Do The Right Thing, Miller's Crossing; i think these show the depth in his acting that i don't think many people realise he has.

I have to say I like them both,
It's really hard to choose between two actors who have completely different styles. I mean Turturro has chops - but Buscemi makes racecars out of poop! Equally gifted in my eyes!

Buscemi!!!!!

Turturro but both have names

that nobody can remember how to spell.

Turturro should change his name to "Johnny Vegas" and Bushemi (sp?) should change his name to "Johnny Cool."

Then we could have a film featuring "Johnny Vegas and Johnny Cool!" and it would make billions.

Re: Turturro but both have names

Maybe they should change their names to "Johnny Troll"

Turturro, by a nose.

Turturro can play lead and has better range that Buscemi. But then again, perhaps Buscemi just hasn't been given the right roll to showcase his talent.

Anyone who can go from Quiz Show to Brain Donors (my personal fave) to The Big Lebowski (hey, they were both in that one)

Buscemi is the character/cameo king though. I always laugh at his bit characters (unlike Rob Schneiders)

Tuturro is by far the better actor, but Buscemi will always win the popularity contest.
