I was jsut watching super mario bros, and noticed the bobbomb had reebok logos on the bottom of it's feet. and it got me thinking about all the other hilariously blatant product placements, can you all name your favorites?

Being the son of a 30+ year employee of Pennzoil, I've always paid close attention to Pennzoil product placements. The most blatant one is in twister when Bill Paxton is standing in front of the biggest Pennzoil sign I have ever seen. My Dad told me that the company spent a great deal of money on it.

I always enjoyed when Wayne and Garth joked on the obvious product placement in Wayne's World when they were doing their show in the big studio.

Also, Minority Report and X2 had some very obvious product placement from Lexus, the Gap and Mazda.

The Wal-Mart mirage in "Looney Tunes: Back in Action", where Bugs and Daffy provide sly commentary about the idea of product placement in movies.

Watched a little of Cosmato's seminal 80's action cheesefest Cobra last night and there is not only a blatant Coor's placement which Sly opens and swigs but a giant Pepsi cup display that the shopping mart psycho blasts with his Shotgun 10 seconds later.

There are actually a couple of different versions if this getting round in Australia. The first is the original Taco Bell - the other is where they have dubbed Pizza Hut over whenever anyone mentions Taco Bell and also any Taco Bell logos are dubbed over with super imposed Pizza Hut logos but if you look there are still a few Taco Bell logos in the background.

It's weired because the TV version has the Taco Bell but our DVD version is the Pizza Hut dub...

What do they do when they show the food?
Nothing really, the food is just that futuristic pellet looking stuff on a silver tray. The bit after he sends the food theives running and he picks up a jar of the food it has been reshot with a Pizza Hut jar in someones hand.

When they're driving around on the bus early on in speed, they pass not one, but TWO trucks with Miller Genuine Draft logos on the side.

Blade Runner and yet more Twinkies in Die Hard.

Nothing beats Dennis Rodman and Jean Claude Van Damme being saved from a gigantic fireball by standing behind a Coca Cola machine. It even tops the plug in Dr. Strangelove for pervesity.

It's definitely not cool, but a really blatent product placement has got to be the shampoo that could kill the aliens in Evolution. Thankfully, I blanked out which one (Head and Shoulders, maybe).

Was this really product placement? Because I always saw it as a clever joke. Then again, I'm an idiot.

Hmm... I actually enjoyed Evolutiond and I thought it was kind of funny how the two dumb brothers knew the name of the compound involved... David Duchovny said something along the lines of "How do you guys know that? You don't know anything!" Well, I thought it was funny...

One of the recent ones I can think of was in Torque. I saw it last week with a friend and thought it was good, dumb fun. There's a part in the movie where the two girls are fighting. They line up at opposite sides of a street or wherever the hell they were. One girl was in front of a GIANT Pepsi sign, the other girl was in front of a GIANT Mountain Dew sign. It didn't feel so much like good girl vs. bad girl so much as it felt like Pepsi Vs. Mountain Dew. My friend and I thought it was hilarious and we enjoyed the movie a lot because it was so absurd.
