Call me stupid, but doesn't that sound more or less EXACTLY the same as the last movie maniacs series????

Come on, Macky F. There's probably gonna be a hybrid beastie in there and a couple of marines, or at least ONE human charecter.
I really hope we get one marine at least! (Assuming marines will appear in AVP).

Those figures are just slightly modified and repainted from the last Movie Maniac line. Notice that it says Alien and Predator. The McFarlane Alien Vs. Predator line has not been shown yet and they are supposed to have new sculpts because the new Alien and Predator will be different.

The hard, cold truth is that they're just trying to make even more money at the sacrafice of actually coming up with anything new. I mean, it's nice to be able to have decent Aliens and Predators figures, but really...how many do we need? MM6 sold really, really well, and this is the result.

I just really hope the new MM7 will be a return to the glory days...though I'm not holding any part of my breath.

I just want a damn Marine

I HOPE there will be a line thats, ya know, actually based on the movie, as opposed to it's predecessors.

JB you can't be serious. What's with the angst towards McFarlane. Have you seen the Twisted Land of Oz figures? The Matrix figures, the sports lineups, the Spawn comic covers, which a freakin beautiful figures, btw. I have the whole set of those and glad to hear they are making another set. Not to mention the video game stuff, the Soul Calibur II figures are sweet, Tortured Souls, etc.

I have the whole line of ALiens and Predators now and I don't think I could have enough of them. Making a seperate line? Fantastic, keep em coming.

The new Monsters line sounds great too.

WHy is McFarlane constantly bashed around here when his company makes the best damn toys in the business.

I forget who makes the Hellraiser figures but they suck.

Well, McFarlane makes nice plastic STATUES, but they sure aren't good quality toys!

No complaint about the new line though.

I don't really like the Predator, but the chance to get 2 nice lovely and INEXPENSIVE Aliens, 1 each based off of the 2 best movies in the series is something I cannot complain about.

Ok, I still want all the Marines as done as movie accurate as possibler, and a Ripley with Powerloader she can get out of with Newt and Duct Taped GUN O DOOM giftset, but I will take what I can get.

Heck, I would settle for just Hicks, Hudson, and Vasquez!

I have to disagree with you there Floyd. NECA does the Hellraiser line and that company is made up of a lot of former McFarlane employees. NECAs head sculptor is Kyle Windrex and he did a lot of sculpts like the Tortured Souls and I also think he has done a great job with NECA. I think that both NECA and McFarlane are putting out lots of good products. The only problem is that I don't have enough cash to buy all of them. This year I have to get Tortured Souls 3, Monsters and A vs. P from McFarlane and Kill Bill, and Hellraiser 3 from NECA. I don’t have a lot of Spawn figures but the comic covers have been tempting me too lately. Damn!

I don't know David I was all pumped for the Hellraiser line and when I got to see them up close, ughhh. Pinhead is the only one that looks remotely decent.

NECA, thank you, and Sideshow are borderline ok to crap. The only reason I get excited looking at an 18" Leatherface or Jason from Sideshow is becasue they're the only ones making them. NECA, to me, just comes across as generic, much like Star Wars action figures. Just not enough detail to impress.

While I agree McFarlane are very good, they have lost some ground to the newbies.

NECA has done an awesome job on the GB prototypes. Im not into Hellraiser but the figures made an impression.

Sideshow I find is amazing. The Buffy license is amazing, as are the upcoming Hellboy, Van Helsing and Vlad The Impaler figures. It's 12 inch Nosferatu was amazing, Ash was pretty decent and I loved the big headed Universal Monsters.

That said, I too don't get the bashing of Mcfarlane (which is somewhat justified as this is more or less a fancy rehash of last years figures). But I thought the series one monsters were amazing (didnt pick up two) and three is a really interesting spin on the subject.

On the one hand, I can see why he is doing this, and if there is a drastic difference in sculpts, i will buy one or two. But on the other hand, it's the SAME line up with (from what it seems like) minor cosmetic differences. If your gonna support a movie, at least support it with figures actually in the movie, ya know?

That said, if he puts in a hybrid (which it's BOUND to have, if old Andy has any sense) and a marine, shit, all will be forgiven
I don't know if it's just me, but I dig monster hunters as much as I do monsters.

The Vampire Hunters in soul reaver.
Holtz in Angel.
The guy in Jeepers Creepers 2.
Jack Crow in Vampires.
Marines in Aliens.

I dunno what it is. I just dig hunters as much as the cool ass monsters. Am I alone?

Pinhead and Skinless Julia are my favorites from NECA so far and the Pillar of Souls extra was a work of art in my opinion. I have noticed that NECA needs to work on their paint job quality control because I've seen some bad ones. I was most impressed with the pics of Dr. Channard. The detail on his phallic symbol noggin is incredible! I also forgot that Movie Maniacs 7 will be out this year. I've heard that a couple of Robocop figures may be making an appearance in that line and Frank the Bunny from Donnie Darko may be delayed a year. Of course, these are just the rumors until thay are announced at Spawn.com. I hope there are a couple of decent horror figures in the mix this time too.

This line says Alien and Predator so it has nothing to do with the A vs. P movie license.

The actual Alien Vs. Predator line will be shown later and here is what it said about this series at Spawn.

"Look for this Alien and Predator refresh line in stores in June. And keep your eyes peeled to spawn.com for more upcoming Alien and Predator news in the very near future."
McFarlane does this all the time. It'll be some of the same and a couple new A & P figures. I think everyone understands that these are not figures based on the upcoming crapfest of a movie.

You guys seem to know what you're talking about and have good eyes for these things but I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone, especially you guys, can claim the NECA's are good quality. McFarlane has raised the bar and they don't touch it.

I hope both NECA and Sideshow get better and keep delivering the goods but at this point that's what they are, good. Not great.
Just wanted to add that noone in this thread is bashing McFarlane much so I'm not trying to start an argument or go back and forth about who's best. I just wish NECA and Sideshow would get their quality improved because they come out with some seriously kick ass figures.
someone really, really, really needs to make a sweet line of figures based on the marines from Aliens.

I do think that the original Tortured Souls are much more detailed than the NECA Cenobites but I think that is because Hellraiser was a low budget series. The Wire Twins, Stitch, Surgeon and CD Cenobite figures look just like they did in the films. Which is pretty poor. Skinless Julia, Pinhead, and the Pillar look excellent and are a good representation of those film characters. I think the TS 2 line had a couple of bad figures too though. In the original Hellraiser movie, the Female Cenobite was going to have a Victorian bustle, like a cage on her lower back, where she would have carried her mummified baby. I believe that if Barker had a bigger budget they would have had more strange details like the Tortured Souls. I think they look pretty good together though and here are some pics here.
I know this has nothing to do with horror, but there are some cool pictures of LOTR figures that NECA is doinghere.
Click on that Aragorn pic and tell me that is not cool!
Those are wicked pictures I agree. The LotR's link doesn't work. Problem is the figures just don't look as good in person.
I fixed the LOTR link. Oh well, it's not like I have stock in NECA or anything. I just think they are doing some good things and competition between McFarlane and them will only be for the good.
Now those I'll buy!
Colonial marines would be nice, but what I really want is a nice Nostromo astronaut figure.

And the Aliens figure would be a nice complement to the queen set.
