Hellraiser - The Animated Series !?!?!

Over at the moviemaniacs boards someone mentioned that a pilot episode is in the works for an animated Hellraiser show. Does anyone have any detailed information about this? Considering the popularity of the toyline it seems like a reasonable possibility.
Here's what they wrote, "I had no idea about this but apparently a pilot for a Hellraiser animated series is in the works, the producer of this will be at a discussion forum in my college this month, sounds exciting I am definatley going to check it out hopefully they will show some test footage."

I really hope this is true and has some kind of association with Clive Barker. It would fucking rock if he wrote the story for each episode even though I know he's sick to death of this franchise.

If there was ever to be a big horror animated series on, I'd love to see Alan Moore's Swamp Thing adapted.

I second that. Best. Horror. Comic. Ever.

If the movie hits big, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Hellboy animated series. Hellraiser? Not so much. It'll probably be spawned from Dimension, and thus will be nothing but overwraught nonsense with none of the subtlety or class of Barker's work. It'd be interesting, but still stinks of "bad idea".

I too am hoping for a Hellboy animated series as has been theorized if the movie does well. But I think there is a very deep mythology that the Hellraiser movies have barely dug into. This is something that could be very well exploited in an animated show where you don't need expensive special effects to show all the fantastical things going on. I only hope it ends up in good hands and reflects Hellraiser 1-2 opposed to any of those other alleged "Hellraiser" movies.

Yeah, saw this over on Celluloid Shcokers but chose to ignore it, it stinks more of "bullshit rumor" than it does "bad idea", but we'll see...

Exactly. I'm no totally opposed to animated HELLRAISER stuff because some of the comics were pretty cool and it really can't get any worse than the last couple of live-action sequels but I really doubt that that hamfisted cunt Harvey Weinstein would greenlight something so unconventional and - dare I say it? - potentially cool.

if it was done in anime and not this shit america is pumping out, then I think it would work very well

but...on the other hand.....bullshit indeed

Yeah, I vaguely remember that. But I'd love to see a full on exact version of Alan Moore's stories. Esp if the animation had that Bissette vibe.

Yeahhh.... Now if I could just turn off the 13 year old retarded gamefaqs board member filter I could enjoy it.

Ok, here's the latest on what the guy who claimed there was an animated pilot has said.

"ok this I went to the Animation forum yesterday and had a long talk with the person who is producing the Hellraiser pilot, he is also animating the title sequence

It wont be an animated series it will be live action, an animator called James Eastope is in the middle of animating the title sequence which I heard will be very grim David Lynch style sequence using stop motion and real dead birds (I know I know)

James told me it will be like the Urban Gothic series with different stories each week, he also said some episode are gonna fill in the gaps between Hellraiser 1,2 and 3 about the whole hell concept and Leviathan, the pilot episode is only a test but is promised to be very gory, the man who is directing the series is an avid Hellraiser fan and hopes to please the fans of the first 2 movies, Doug Bradley has been asked to make an apearance and he seems intrested, The series will not be about the cenobites they will only make appearances in odd episodes.

check out www.maddogfilms.com for updates, images have been promised on the website very soon.

hopes that cleared things up a tad."

Could be interesting, who knows.

As soon as I heard about this I did suspect that this was what the rumours were about.

I also believe I know the person doing this, having heard about a potential series some time ago but had to keep it quiet. I'll try and find out iof this is indeed the same project.

They should adapt some of the best comic book Hellraiser stories, like Razing Hell, and that one about AIDS.

Arse. So it'll be a loosely related horror anthology show, using the Hellraiser name as a hook? Isn't that pretty much what the Hellraiser movies have become under Dimension's watch?

Remember when there was 'The Crow' TV series? I think these guys want to do that with Hellraiser but they are in England and who knows if they even have the rights for it. There was talk of a TV series in the mid 90's but that was a bad idea then. It's not a better idea now because where would they broadcast a bloody Hellraiser show? HBO and Showtime usually have original shows on and not DTV horror series that are way past their prime.

I think it could be really interesting if each episode focused on different parts of the Hellraiser mythos. They could focus on the chinese character from the first film, the bum who turns into a winged demon, etc. Maybe an episode focusing on Dr Channard's discovery and obsession with the cenobites.

When I think of movies I'd like to see made, I imagine a Hellraiser movie with a 100 million budget and focusing on all the surreal places in Hell. Think Tron but instead of the... what's that thing that looks like a giant top? Yeah.. instead of that you'd have Leviathon.
