They Thirst

I just wanted to throw this out there and see what kind of responses I could get from the very informed 'Corner Dwellers'. My all time favorite 'Vampire' book was called, 'They Thirst' from Robert R. McCammon. I can't understand why this book never became a movie. Someone told me once that it was indeed a film but I have been able to find nothing on it.

Any help?

This is indeed the best vampire book I've ever read.

So its Vampires? I'm just starting the book, maybe 80 or so pages in, and based on the cover and description I thought it was Zombies. But Vampires are cool too.

No, it was never a film. It's not my favorite McCammon book, but it's a fun read. Man, I truly wish McCammon would come out of retirement and write another few books. BOY'S LIFE and GONE SOUTH showed so much growth for him. It was such a shame that he called it quits. I think it had a lot to do with his being overshadowed by Stephen King, Clive Barker and Dean (I've been writing the same book over and over again for 20 years) Koontz.

It's interesting that the recent publication of SPEAKS THE NIGHTBIRD, which was actually written long ago, is doing so well. Maybe that'll goad him into writing another.

Stinger....now that would be such the killer film. Honestly, I'd even get a kick out of an adaption of Mine.

I read somewhere that MINE is being adapted. It's the reason I decided to read the book. I wonder what supermodel-esque actress they'll get to uglify herself to play the kidnapper.

Stinger would friggin rock. I'd like to see Swan Song as a trilogy like LOTR. The guy who wrote the script for The Mist is actually working on a treatment for Mine

I just can't believe will never see another original McCammon novel. Someday something new will come from him. I'm sure of it.

Theres some definite adaption potential in his book of short stories Blue World. That one with the bee's at the gas station sticks out in my mind...also the one with the empty city and all of the ringing pay phones. Creepy stuff.
