Damnit.

First one, too.

How much do you think I have to pay?

Already sent the check to the municipal court. That town only gets its money from speeding college students and football fans.

This highway has about three little cites which are speed traps, and speeding tickets is the only way for the cities to make money.

yeah that sounds about right.. I paid 300 for my speeding ticket. I was going 100 on the way to las vegas.. So it might depend how fast and the law in your state.. I never go to traffic school... but I heard there's one you can do online now.

In the Motor City, the police probably have multiple ways to make money. But in a small town? Speeding tickets need to be raised.

Especially with the small amount of money the state gives the city police.

For future reference, if it is your first ticket in a long time (or first ever), you might be able to talk the prosecutor into letting you enter a plea in abeyance. Basically, it's like a "no contest" plea for speeding tickets. You pay the fine but they take it off your record if you are clean for the next few months so it doesn't affect your insurance rates or count towards whatever system they use to revoke licenses for excessive citations. It's kind of a one-time deal in my state, but a lot of states have this option. Might be worth checking into.

How would that work if I have already sent the check in. The non-mandatory court date is in March.

The general way to enter a plea in abeyance: Call the prosecutor. If you don't know who the prosecutor is, call the court and ask. Once you get ahold of the prosecutor you can ask about entering a plea in abeyance, letting him know that you have already sent in the check for the fine. It might be called something different in your state, but the prosecutor should know what you are talking about. Because it is your first ticket, the prosecutor may work with you even though you have already technically entered a "guilty" plea by sending in the fine.

You'd rather your insurance rates go up? There are tons of them online now. I did mine online. Took less than an hour.

No, Not really. I would advice anyone who can go to school to go. I just choose not too.. Just for me its easier for me to pay millions of dollars then go to school.. I just have a very hard time going... and concentrating Besides I have been a good girl for a while as a matter of fact I will be out of probabation in May.. *whew and shit I tell ya I had to strip and sell myself for that one..

Usually there are many creative ways to argue your way out of a speeding ticket. The trick is to say as little as possible to the officer when they pull you over, and to not tip your hand. You have to keep in mind, writing as ticket is extremely tedious, it's not like these officer LIKE doing it. Also, if you DO get a ticket, feel free to argue and challenge it in court.

Of course, I couldn't escape anything because I got pulled over in front of a courthouse back when I was 17.

You really need to visit the UK where the police war against speeding motorists has reached new levels of ferocity. The installation of automated digital cameras and computerized processing equipment means that you daren’t risk driving down any road five miles-an-hour above the speed limit for fear of having a letter posted through your door the next day declaring that your licence has been revoked!

Of course, if your house is robbed - you aren't likely to see a police response for forty-eight hours...

Man, I got a fucking 80 dollar ticket for coasting through a stop-sign ON CAMPUS AT 1 IN THE MORNING.

Hell, it was my fault. I should fucking know better than that. Still... 80 fucking bucks. I could have used that for sex toys!
