I have to chime in with the other ladies here.

I saw The Accused and it totally did me in. Everytime I first see a pinball machine, anywhere, that scene is the first thing that comes to mind. Whew. That was rugged for me. I had to keep stopping the tape and leaving the room, repeatedly, to get through that scene. Yowza!

Which is the main reason (besides the head bashing) as to why I would never see Irreversible.

Add:

Kill Bill
I Spit On Your Grave
Ichi the Killer
Natural Born Killers
and about 50 others

I have never watched the curb scene in American History X. I only know that it takes place and when to look away and cover my ears.

I own and love Braveheart, but even some scenes in there are difficult for repeat viewings. My heart aches too much and my gut gets too wrenched.
.
.
So yes, The Passion of the Christ gets added to the list as well.

Strangely enough, I did make it through some of Robocop, which surprises me to this day. I wouldn't watch it again though.

The Cat in the Hat
Any straight to video sequel of a Di$ney movie
Cannibal Ferox- The movie were they actually kill a turtle

Cannibal Holocaust is the film where they kill the turtle, although there are plenty of animals killed in Cannibal Ferox.

1.I spit on your grave - The rape scene in Irreversible was enough for me.
2.Any upcoming Tarantino films.
3.Jerry Bruckheimers cgi crap-fests.
I like movies, so I will see any film, more or less.
Why the DOGVILLE avoidance?

I've always said I had no reason to see BOYS DON'T CRY, because that story gutted me when it was in the news, and I don't want to watch it dramatized. But if I caught it on cable from the beginning, I'd probably give in and sit through it. Nothing else comes to mind, though I can't imagine ever sitting through FIERCE CREATURES again.

I love movies, but much like restaurants, I try to avoid movies that seem bad or pretentious for the sake of being pretentious.

1. Theodore-Rex
2. Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights
3. Solaris (Clooney version)
4. Shakespeare in Love
5. Exit to Eden

Me, too. I've seen most of the films mentioned here.
But there are films I've no intention of seeking out:
  1. The Princess Diaries 1/2
  2. Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and fabulous (I caught about 30 min. of the first one *shudder*)
  3. Beaches/Steel Magnolias/Prince of Tides/The Mirror has two Faces, stuff like that, with Bette Midler or Barbra Streisand.
  4. Cat in the Hat/Garfield/Son of Mask, i.e. CGI Crapfests.
  5. Any Deuce Bigalow or Scary Movie sequel. White Chicks
The point that I don't belong to the target audience for any of these films is not lost upon me.

1. Ella Enchanted
2. XXX - let alone XXX2
3. Wild things 2 or 3
4. The Passion of the Christ.

Actually there are loads more. I work on the theory there is not enough time to see everything so i just see the things that interest me.

Dude, the first two I can dig, but SOLARIS is spellbinding, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE is wonderful and EXIT TO EDEN has full-frontal Dana Delany nudity (when Delany was hot stuff). Sure, it also features Rosie O'Donnell in bondage leathers but that's why DVDs have scene selection.

My sentiments exactly, being a movie geek means you take the good with the bad. And the bad can sometimes be great!

I figured SOLARIS would ruffle some feathers but I just can't fathom seeing Clooney beg to be taken seriously. I haven't seen the original SOLARIS but I'll watch that in a second before the remake. SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE makes the list because the triple threat of Paltrow, Affleck, and the less talented Fiennes brother is just scary. The sight of O'Donnell on the box of EXIT TO EDEN makes it a non-option. But I would still watch all of those before THEODORE-REX.

After watching Collateral, the Miami Vice movie is one that I'll make a special effort to miss. I don't want to be inflicted more cliches and terrible music.

White Chicks. I simply refuse.

Whoever gave theri blanket condemnation of CGI crapfests is dead on.

I submit a blanket condemnation of the films of Lars van Trier in return. Not just Dogville, ALL of them; something about the guy's work just sets my teeth on edge.
