Happy, nay, thrilled to be single?

Then report here.

Not to take anything away from the recent engagements announced here (congratulations, suckers!), I just thought we deliriously happy singles oughta have a thread as well.

Having been both married and single, I'll take single any day of the week. I love my freedom. I cherish my independance. My decisions are my own. I'm responsible to me.

The remote is MINE!

These days, I wouldn't have it any other way.

You realize you're daring the Fates to send a woman for you to fall madly in love with, right?
If cherishing one's singleness is a call for a woman to fall madly in love with you, I'd have a freakin harem.

I am to love as Scrooge is to Christmas, but without the last-minute recantation.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm all about caring and affection and intimacy (and certainly hot sweaty sex), I'm just not so sure about the whole "love" thing anymore. Seen too many once-thriving relationships turn into bitter, ugly acrimony.

Single??

What the hell is that?

Which Carl are you?

He's the Carl who's trying to have enough kids to start his own private Notre Dame peewee football team.
Oh, the one in Utah. May the force be with you.
I'm liking my singledom which has gone on for some time now, though I wouldn't say no to a bitter, acrimonious, too-hastily-embarked-upon affair to give me that extra "oomph" of perspective.
Not in Utah.

We Catholics tend to breed all of our clones with ONE wife.
Being single is cool and all, but it is nice to have someone there that you can administer a dutch oven too.
Being single is equal part suckage and equal part freedom.

Sometimes though one sides tips the scale one way or another...
When do they attack, Carl?
When I am ready to have my revenge.
Did I mention I'm in the suckage portion of singledom?
Same here CT. I need a virgin sacrifice.
Everyday is a good day, kid. Just try missing one.

Single and loving it!

A thread on the internet where people proudly identify themselves as single?

Whoa. I never saw that one coming.

Well excuse the fuck outta me. Please go enjoy the multiple engagement threads if they're more to your liking.
I'm single...I kinda dig it. I can come and go as I please, eat whatever I want....and all my money gets spent....on me. It gets a little lonely at times, but hell, that's what strippers are for. Overall, it's not such a bad life. Not so bad indeed....

God bless us, everyone.

We need threads about military engagements, actually.

Single, but not looking. Tired of finding the wrong ones.
Women sense my power and they seek the life essence. I do not avoid women, Mandrake. But I do deny them my essence.
Single. Always looking, but not fretting about it.

I'll find a girl soon enough. When I least expect it.
Oh yes,

single is the way to go.. It means less drama, more money for action figures.. also I hear no complaining about why I don't spend the night.. Don't have to meet the family... Don't have to worry about saying the wrong things.... It tis so great...

See, Jacob, posts like the above one, made without a trace of irony, are why threads bragging about singlehood on the internet veer into lamedom.

But if you want to be a cliche, go right ahead. I have no beef with a person being single, choosing to be single or swearing off the opposite sex for life. But boasting about it on a medium that paradoxically breeds both social and anti-social behavior...don't be that guy.

Well, I started the thread merely as a response to the other recent engagement announcement threads. I believe too many people feel impelled to get married, to get that piece of paper, to fulfill some abstract social obligation, as opposed to just building their relationships with one another. The rings, the ceremonies, the receptions; all those things that smack of "Look at us! We're getting married!" that really detract from what the whole idea should be - making a commitment to a partner for life.

I didn't want to be a wet blanket in those threads, so I started this one, a small celebration of independance. Sorry if it came off as anti-social, trite, cliche or whatever.

I got a girl's number today. And she doesn't have a boyfriend.

First girl who I have started to be friends with that doesn't have a boyfriend. The girls who I meet in my classes that take interest in me have boyfriends.

Thanks be to God that this one wasn't like them.

This happened to me recently...it turns out she did have a boyfriend...go figure!
The thing is that girls mention they have a boyfriend when I first start to talk with them. Sometimes the fact that they tell you is a bad sign in itself.

But this girl, while were were talking today, said that her car was in the shop.

She said it wasn't something she could have fixed by herself. Then she said that she wished she had a boyfriend who could fix cars.

That was my clue.
Can you fix cars?

Because if not, maybe she's telling you that she needs a mechanic. Or that you should get her a boyfriend that's a mechanic. Or that she wants her car fixed for free.

You have to know how to read the signals, my friend.

Alas, I feel in love with the most beautiful of them and let her get away.

Yep that would be me..... I love being single.. I been married before and hated it.... I'm still paying bills up the ass from my last boyfriend.. Hmm let's see I owe like 9,000 dollars... Single is the way of life for me.. I have other prioritys in my life then boys at the moment.. well beside my son...I have no problems with men. Don't get me wrong I see a hot guy once in a long while.. I just choose not to follow the oh I must have someone in my life before I die... crap.. I have no time for such nonsense..If you meet someone and are happy better for you and I will be happy for you but with all the shit that I have been through you would rather be single too.. Who knows maybe I'll start looking for a boyfriend in my 60's I should be done paying all my shit by then.

sorry if my post irritated you. It wasn't ment too...

-cheers

Ya, you think I'd get the comments like this more often. Most people just don't comment though...I don't get it.

I mean, it's obvious!

Heh. I get it.

Of course I can't say things like that.

I mean, it isn't like I am some controlling agent.
