Has anyone ever seen this? For those who enjoy the TV show "COPS", here is a very well done satire called "P.M.A.C.: When Zombies Attack.

Description
When Zombies Attack!! is a mock video documentary that follows heroic officer Frank Hadely of the Post Mortem Animation Control (P.M.A.C.) as he strives to protect and serve the citizens of Burke County while investigating and ridding the community of the ever present threat of the undead.

Here is the long version (25 minutes). When the video ends and the credits start rolling -- keep watching. You'll see more footage.
P.M.A.C.: When Zombies Attack - long version

When you click on the above link, it will take you to another page. At the top of that page, you will see "Video" and 2 options: 56k and 200k (500k is for subsribers only). Pick your connection speed and watch. You need Real Player to view it.

This is the short version of the video. It's a little different than the long version. Some things are new in this one. You need Quicktime to view it.

(Don't pick High Bandwidth for the short version. It doesn't work. Choose medium or Low)

I'd heard about this but kept forgetting to check it out. Those stills look pretty cool. I'll have to give it a look when I get home from work.

Yeah, this video is good stuff.

It's a great idea that I'm suprised hasn't been done before.

A very enjoyable vid.

This little movie is actually one of the main reasons why I´m here.... surfed the Creature Corner archives on night and came across it (http://www.creature-corner.com/news/sep11PMAC.php3).

Fun and great fx!

We've been giving love to this for a long time (ironically the first story we did on it was on 9/11/01...). The guys that created it are very cool, met 'em at a Fango con a few years back.

Supposedly there was some talk of making it a feature, or at least a bit longer, which I think could ruin the effect of it, but there hasn't been any public movement in while.

They shot a follow-up short called 'Waker Safety' that is also great to behold.

I just watched it. Pretty fun little flick. I got a big kick out of the whole Bernie Wrightson thing.

I caught this a few months back and I liked it a lot. Had some good humor to it. I'll have to check out the short version here in the next few days...

Wasn't the original idea to make a TV show out of this? Or am I on crack?

I looked around but couldn't find it anywhere else. Even the original website for "P.M.A.C.: When Zombies Attack" doesn't seem to have the long version of this video! Only ifilm seems to have it.

Actually, I should have mentioned that the short version is actually a Trailer (about 2 minutes long). I guess I was so tired last night after watching both versions (it was 4am) that it kind of slipped my mind.

And yes, according to the people who made the video, they're trying to turn their idea into a TV show. I guess no network is interested in it. Too bad. It's so well done. Maybe if the "Dawn of the Dead" remake becomes successful, there will be some network interests in this video/idea.

"Always make sure before shooting into a crowd that everyone is dead".. out of context that sounds funny.

"zombie tipping" haha..

This was pretty neat, thanks for the link.
The Ben Stiller show did his own parody of Cops with the Amish, some guys did the same with Stormtroopers from Star Wars, but for some reason I think this somehow transcended those other two. In other words, yes its funny, but also more than just a parody too. It had its bleak moments too.

I like to think of this piece as showing how it may turn out if zombies existed but the problem never got so apocalyptic.

I just finished seeing it. Wow! Really good short IMO. There's some scenes that simply are eerie while at the same time humorously amusing. I loved the constant use of zombie moans just out of view of the camera thus enriching the tension. Thanks for the recommendation Inky.

I included a link to "Realplayer" in the first post. If you install it, you'll be able to watch the video -- that is if you're even allowed to since it's at your workplace.

I think this is a really awesome idea. Great make up FX, cool premise. The only thing I don't like is that since it is more or less COPS but with zombies , it doesn't have much potential to have engrossing stories. So this is fun as a indie short. But if their idea is to have this as a series of somesort, I think it would get a little repetative.

I think that if they would turn it into a series, the "plot" would be expanded. We need the EVIL MILITARY in there and people coming across strange experimentations with zombies and humans and so. As long as the crew would focus on just one "police" station and their actions, there would be alot of chances to build a quite decent story arc while not losing the COPS factor.

In any case, I think a miniseries with 12-15 30 minutes episodes would be the ideal format for this. Enough time to put up a basic ongoing plot and yet not missing all the chaotic fun by the side. And yet not too much, so that it would get boring.

When Zombies Attack!!

Hey everyone,
I just stumbled onto this thread and wanted to thank you (particulary Inky) for your interest in When Zombies Attack!!. I'm one of the creators of it and wanted to let you know that if we do get a cable series going we would definetly expand on the plot lines and back off on the COPS spoof. We'd treat it more as a documentary show rather than a direct spoof. Although Zombies would always be present, the Post Mortem Animation Control (P.M.A.C.) would also have to police other entities. Being that my co-creator and I had to do everything (writing, directing, edit, makeup, etc) we had to keep our pilot kind of simple. We're more excited about future storylines that are more ambitious but unfortunetly would require financial backing and a crew. We're crossing our fingers, the success of Dawn of the Dead could be the break that we've been waiting for. I wouldn't want to jinx it though...
