Shock Waves: What it means to you

I just watched the DVD the other night and I loved the film...but I also thought it was lacking something...but nothing to deter me from my enjoyment of the movie itself. I noticed that when it was first released that it was given a "PG" rating

Also...as much as I hate the word, I think this movie would make a great.....remake

P.S. I want to put babies in Blue Underground

Although I really enjoyed this movie (and I've always been a Brooke Adams fan!), I must have watched it too late at night. I'm ashamed to admit that I was a little bit - dare I say it? - bored. Glad I saw it, but I did hit the "fast forward" once or twice.

A remake might not be such a bad idea. People seem to respect it, but I don't think it falls into the "untouchable classic" category.

the beginning had me wondering if this was based on a true story

the story of the soldiers that is...not the movie itself

Nazi zombies that drown people?
What's not to like?
I've gotta pick this up for the Alan Ormsby commentary.

I love the movie, but it's funny that every death is due to drowning.

They should have stayed locked in the freezer.

And the dude in the yellow shirt's shorts were way to short...

Bunny, isn't your quote from "The Ninth Configuration"?

SHOCKING!!!!

I also felt that something was missing.........and I was a tad bit bored....I wish there was a bit more Nazi Zombie action in it though.......It is due for an updating (remake) but it would have to be done right....as with any horror film remake.

Fright Flik Guy, I think watching it really late had an opposite effect on me. I got kind of freaked out. Granted, I was sick from the flu, and drowning in NyQuil. Great movie nonetheless.

Not really a fan of "Shock Waves". I wish the make-up looked half as cool as the poster art. My big question is why the hell did they always have to run from the zombies in knee high water when there was solid ground all around them? Great cast, cool idea that could have been written better. -Clark

I like the clear 70's camp of the flick

my favorite part was when John threw the raido overboard

I still don't know why he did that...and I think he was kidding when he refered to the ghost pirates as the reason

I don't think I've seen this. I put it on my netflix queue.

I blind bought it

I'll blind buy damn near any movie with zombies

This was actually a movie I suggested remaking during that "remake" contest last year. Very good flick, though it fails to realize its full potential.

I love this movie. I think it's perfect for what it is, an indie flick. A remake would be cool but a sequel would be the bees knees for sure.

"Nazi zombies that drown people?
What's not to like?"

YEZ!!!! Agreed

Why bother with a remake though, theres other movies with Nazi Zombies in them, why not just make a new one.

And actually set it in world war 2. I love the whole war time horror idea and the thought of Nazis mucking about with the occult to create Zombie Soldiers is perfect.

Just dont let Anderson any where near it.

Like I always say, You can't go wrong with Nazis.

The deaths should have been a tad more gruesome and the Nazi zombies should have been resurrected to try and take over the world again or something instead of just standing around.

A remake is in order.

Nah, I changed my mind. Leave the original alone on this one and just go for the sequel. It's a classic.

I guess I need to rewatch this. I saw it once years ago and thought it laughably bad and boring. But all the love for it from people on the corner whom I admire is making me think maybe I missed something.

Are there alternate cuts of this? B/c the one I saw had some very bad editing. In one scene there is a crusty old sea captain character who is supposedly "drowned" face down in the lagoon or whatever. Anyway, the director obviously yelled "cut!" and the guy started to get up from the water, but a half-second or full second before the edit to the next scene was made. It was embarassing.

Plus, I generally dislike horror movies where all the scary stuff happens in broad daylight. That's hard to do well. In fact, I can't think of any that have done it well imo.

Maybe I'll give it another shot.

I was thinking about this lastnight.....and you are right. A sequel where the first isn't even mentioned in the title, but more of a "you know it's a sequel without having to say so" type thing.

And, while thinking about this, I realized that Uwe would want to get his hands all over it, if it were to be a remake.

Arr matey. I've only seen this movie once; two or three years ago on 'Scream TV' and the quality was so horrible it made me wince. I loved the movie though. Been meaning to buy the DVD, even if the improvements in the print quality are only minor, it'd be more than worth it.
