I thought with this magazine horror would have done better. If I had to rearrange this list the horror would definitely move up probably leaving The Lord of The Rings at the top 3 slots but The SHining would be #4 followed closely bt Jaws, The Thing, Alien and Aliens.

Yeah I know I was pretty surprised to see so few. If you add in the sci-fi and fantasy the list looks better. This is probably the best list I've seen with all genres. Having Blade Runner in there is a must.

(Laughs) I think that list is a joke. To put "Kill Bill Vol. 1" at 27--and before "Psycho," "The Exorcist," "Platoon," "The Graduate," "North by Northwest," "Chinatown," "Rear Window," "Psycho," "Vertigo" (I'm obviously a Hitchcock fan [laughs] ), "Stand by Me," "Once Upon a Time in the West," "Scarface," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," "Apocalypse Now," "Back to teh Future," and others--is friggin' absurd. It's even friggin' absurd to put "Kill Bill Vol. 1" on that list. The movie had hardly any good (scratch that: decent) characters, if any at all.

I agree Kill Bill shouldn't have been put before some of those others but it should be on there. The movie rocked. Best gore of the year.

Speaking of Hitchcock I would have liked to have seen The Birds on there as well.

BLACK NARCISSUS, DOG DAY AFTERNOON, MANHATTAN, ZELIG, CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON, WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (orig), CAPE FEAR (orig), MANCHURIAN CANIDATE, BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, DAWN OF THE DEAD, FEMALE CONVICT SCORPION, RINGU, PEEPING TOM, FIVE EASY PIECES ( to name a few ) are all "greater" than most of the stuff on that list ....

Pirates of the Caribean, Usual Suspects, Grease in the top 20 films of all time! This list is a joke. Shawshank was a good movie, but in the top 5??
This is why I dont pay attention to lists for the most part, sure everyone has different tastes, but this is a f*cking joke.

...these are ones I probably would have in my list. I think it's also important to stress the difference between 'best' and 'favourite'. That said, I'd also add THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, DAWN OF THE DEAD, THE THING, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, THE WOLF MAN, HALLOWEEN, THE FOG, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, MARTIN, and a few other non-horror types.
