"Motherfuckers mess with me, I'll spit their head!"--SNEAKERS

I kept hearing this movie mentioned as a great caper, so I picked it up at a video store a few months back. Absolutly loved it. The casting is top notch, and capers like this just don't get made anymore (the only thing that comes to mind is Ocean's Eleven.) Everyone is perfect, from Redford to Kingsley (his villian surprisingly carries a lot of emotional weight) to Aykroyd to Phoenix, but major props go to Sidney Potier, who just owns every scene he's in. And it also features a James Horner score that's not a riff on one of his previous works (although you hear this score again in Apollo 13).

Second the love. Actually, I really need to see this again. I got into it because a computer game I played reportedly had a LOT of influences from the movie (Uplink). I didn't regret blind buying it ONCE.

The movie has a lot of great moments. The "what does the box do?" and "what's SETEC Astronomy?" one-two punch is a really well-done sequence. And every scene with Ben Kingsley is fantastic. "You will give me the box, right now, or I will kill you, right now." It's just a great, fun flick.

This is indeed a great film.

The opening scene is fantastic. Very well shot.

And once again, Stephen Tobolowsky does a great job, this time as Dr. Werner Brandes.

Great film. A real pleasant surprise, too. Love the ending with g-man James Earl Jones. "Tahiti is not in Europe."

One of only 2 or 3 movies to use real phone numbers...

I watched this and Ring of Fire on the same day I had first been really stoned, fell asleep thru the action flick but the spy flick had my eyes wide open.

One of those flicks that you never get tired of.

"A computer matched her with HIM? I don't think so."

One of my favorite movies ever. Just love it, plain and simple.

The special edition is only ten bucks at most stores now. It's one of the best blind purchases you'll ever make.

I thought the $10 price tag was a mistake; talk about a bargin!

I love pretty much everything about this movie. It really pulls off the shadowy, conspiracy kind of tone while somehow still staying light and fun. Why don't movies like this get made anymore? Although g-dude is right, Oceans 11 is kind of along the same lines.

Awesome movie. I like how to break in they had to bypass a realistic security system. One of the things I hate about Mission Impossible(though I like the movie) is how overly elaborate yet easy to defeat the security system was. Y'know, put a damn camera in the room, use motion sensors, or password protect the computer.

Good jokes too. "Give him head?"

I really need to get this one for my DVD collection, it's such a classy little film. Mother's conspiracy theories, his clashes with Poitier about these theories are great. I had this crush on Mary McDonnell after seeing this film, I still do.
The rest of the cast of great, Redford and Kingsley both excel with Redford using his laidback charm to great effect here. David Strathairn is very good here as the blind soundman and River Phoenix is also good.
I really liked the score in this film, it stood out for the most part and not in a bad way.

Agreed. It's not one of the best scores ever, but it's easily one of my favorites. I still find myself humming it every now and then.

Showing the clip from Touch of Evil on the TV was great, too. A clever bit of foreshadowing. I am of the firm belief that more movies need to show clips from Touch of Evil.
