Houston Chewers - Page 2

Well my pic is in the Chewer 2-D Thread. Post number 15 or so......

Look pretty much the same, except I have almost no hair now (had a hair dye accident this past Sunday and the clippers had to come out), and a few more lbs.
Coyote has suggested that someone stand with a CHUD sign just inside the front doors.

So, of course, I nominate him. He's in a class today and can't protect himself.
HahHa! I hacked my way in....

Actually, I meant to hold the sign in the theater. Lower middle good for everyone?

My pic posted on page 10 of that thread , #360.
And if it's playing in more than one theater (opening weekend probability extremely likely).....

So I vote a sign in front.... Will Chew for Movie
post #55 of 120
Damn your earth logic....
Actually, if we're planning to meet inside the theater, once the time listings are up (yes, I checked. It only goes to Thursday right now) we should probably choose an actual showtime. There should only be one screen with that actual showtime (there will probably be a 1:00 and a 1:15 or therabouts). Anyone who is running late could just meet us at the restaurant after. Coyote should still hold a sign, though.
Unfortunately, they don't normally post the weekend times until Thursday afternoon. So anyone who can't coordinate online after Thursday might want to PM someone who can so that they get the proper time.

That way no one's buying tickets for the wrong showing.

Earth logic THAT, buddy.
Damn your Venusian logic.
Hey, Gigolo Joe,

Are you still planning to go to DragonCon this year? If you are, I may want to ask you for a bit of a favor.
You know, I was just working on that little idea of an Atlanta trip this weekend. Honestly, I am not sure if I can swing it at this time. I was originally planning on my last day of Houston work to be August 27th which would have left me wide open to be able to attend, but now it looks as though my company has me roped until September 24th. Let's talk about DragonCon on Sunday. Further testimonials always help in swaying my decision making process.

Edited to add: If memory serves, then we also need to discuss the upcoming season of Dead Like Me.
I love that show. Do you want me to bring tapes? (It'd have to be recorded at 2hr mode, as I'd be watching it on a 65" TV.)
My VCR has two settings, SP and EP. Techno geek, I am not, so I assume the EP setting is the one you would prefer? As for tapes, I have about 20 therefore no need to bring me any more. I will be going the DVR route when I set up my new media center in Florida, so the VCR will not be making the final trip (and none of my VCR tapes).
Oh, cool! (As a side note, SP is what I was looking for....2 eps per tape... so if that changes your estimage of me not needing to bring tapes, let me know)
Hate to jump on this thread so late and right in the middle of stuff but...I'm from Temple, Tx (Heart of Texas type stuff...yeah we're better here :-p) and I'd just like to mix things up by saying that I hate Houston with a passion.
I can't stand that damn city...in my opinion, Houston isn't really a part of Texas. It is merely this smoggy, dump of an international metropolis that happens to take a huge chunk of it's existence out of this wonderful state. Oh...and it just happens to have some of this state's most important and memorable monuments...not to mention the Johnson Space Center. OTHER THAN THAT!! It SUCKS!

However, I love Galveston! :-D

On a side note -- Texas kicks ass, at least you're making an effort...
So, the times are up for the Edwards. There's a 12:00, 1:00 and 1:30 then nothing until 3:00. I think we were already planning for the 1:00, right?

And the movie is SHORT at only 105 min.

Are we still at just me, Coyote, Gigolo Joe and chefwindu or has anyone dropped out or anyone else decided to join in?
I thought g-dude was interested, but haven't seen him around on the boards in a few days. Hopefully he will pop in too.
I can do the noon, 1, or 1:30 (and Hedgie with me), so what's good for you, Joe?
G-dude? HelLlLLLo?
It's all good for me. Since you guys hold a majority you tell me the time and I will be there with bells on.....
Did we lose chefwindu somewhere along the way, too?

I say we stick to the , well, not ORIGINAL plan, but our secondary plan of the 1:00 show. But if anyone wants to move to the 12:00 movie it wouldn't bother me.
I sent Coyote a PM. Will he be checking his messages before Sunday?
I can make sure that he does. He's taking a couple of tests in class today, so probably can't log in, but will probably be back to normal tomorrow. I'll let him know to check.
The 1 pm show will be fine with me, I will be there around 11:45ish incase it is moved up to noon.

I postd my pic on http://chud.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60570&page=3. I am at the bottom.

I got a lot of crap going on so I wont be online for the majority of the weekend.

Looking forward to seeing you guys!
If there's a pic of me somewhere on here it probably doesn't show my face.

Actually,
Hope this link works

http://www.networkops.cc/images/dkaycoyote.jpg

Ignore the shiny woman for our purposes. That's Coyote and me on the right . This was from Last year's A-Kon meet up. No pics from this year.

Coyote, we have GOT to get some better pics up on this site. I almost can't be seen in this one.
Unfortunatl,y I can't make it this weekend. I'd love to, but my cousin is coming into San Antonio to visit on Sunday and it's the last time he'll be home before getting shipped off to Iraq. So, I'll be approximatly 250 miles from whatever fun stuff you guys are doing.

Maybe next month we can organize again.

Hope you guys have fun.

Gah. That's a horrible pic of me. The shiny one is Mz. D'kay, btw. Pic by Momotoro.

Hope Agent Danger is coming, too. (G-dude's gf) Joe, feel free to invite extra people, we did last night. (Don't know if they're coming, but they're invited.)

I have your number, Joe.
And a fun time was had by all.

The end.

(I have another day or two off next month, we should try it again, and get others to show)
Here! Here! How about we do weeknight deal. But glad to see we were able to get it done. Big things start small though. Next time it should be at least all of us locals!
Hedgie, I have that one I took of you this year with that other girl. If I had a place to host, I'd put it up.
With Anaka?

Momotoro, you can attach it to the board directly, or, failing that, email me at mickeyfinn@gmail.com, and I'll put it in my photobucket.
No, with Toni. He caught us between buildings a couple of hours after the dinner.

I'm in favor of a weeknight get-together. Though not too late, as I work during the week.
OoOOOoo....in between buldings.

With The Great and Wonderful Toni (tm), even.

Ok, who hasn't seen the Bourne Supremecy yet? We could always do Monday at the Alamo, 6-7ish showing?
I was going to try and see it this weekend but if we make it an outing, I will hold off until Monday. Anything after 7 PM would be better for me.
Everybody needs to head to Sixth Street in Austin...we'll party and it'll be great!
Another possibility is the Manchurian Canidate, btw...I didn't know that opened today, and Dark Hedgie is itching to see it.
I have free screenings of COLLATERAL on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm not sure which one(s) I'm working yet, but you guys are welcome to come to any that I'm covering. It will probably be crowded and everyone would need to arrive early, but it's free and I hear it's good.

Actually, I think the safe bet is that I will be at the AMC Studio 30 screening on Tuesday, 8/3 and then probably at the Edwards Grand Palace screening on Thursday, 8/5.

By the way, Coyote, thanks for the job advice/offer in the Chewers thread. I always forget to send the good version of my resume to the office email and I never remember to look at that thread when I'm at home. It'll be coming your way one of these days.
Actually scratch Monday for me. I wasn't thinking about the time of the month, and I know I will be head down in financials Monday through Wednesday. Working sucks. Money makes the world go round though.
I'm definately interested in Collateral, Eli...Hedgie probably will be, too. Weds night is the best night for me, but I can make Tues or Thurs if need be
post #87 of 120
Yep. I'm definitely interested! Any of those days are about equal for me in do-ability.
Ok, we're looking at the 7:05pm showing of the Manchurian Canidate on Monday at Alamo Draftyhouse, for anyone interested.

I'd love to go to one of these, and I'll be sure to drag Agent Danger with me as well (she's dying to see Cruise in action with that, as she describes, "gorgeous silver hair!")

Thursday would probably work best for us, as I don't have work the following morning.
I still feel pretty sure that I will only be working Tuesday and Thursday night. Coyote, you guys are welcome to attend Wednesday if that works best for you. I'll just need to give my co-worker your names and she'll leave passes for you at the box office or with the ticket taker. Shoot me an email with your real names. My work address is mmoore@a-g-a.com

g-dude, you guys are good to go on Thursday. You should definitely try to arrive early...45 minutes to an hour early is usually a good idea. I'll check tomorrow and make sure that I've got the theatres listed correctly.

I'm looking forward to meeting you guys. Except for Coyote, I've met him. But it's been a while.
We'll probably go Thurs, I just need to confirm with Hedgie.
I'll be at Thur's showing, Hedgie will probably be there too...sent ya a mail.
Hello everyone, I just found this site so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Houston, although I'll be starting college in a few weeks in Austin.

Hehe, I guess that's enough for now. Anyway, it's nice to be here and I hope to get to know alot of the regulars around here.
Hi Ashron.

Coyote & co., how are handling the screening tonight? Do we want to meet somewhere for food before/afterwards? Meet in fron of the theatre?
Eli, sent you an email, I might be able to attend tonight's screening (if you have a ticket available) and if the time is right......

Edited: I'm on the list (thanks Eli!). What time is everyone meeting? Coyote...you still have my cell number?
Yes, I still have it, joe...

Hedgie's still trying to figure out if she can make it (she has a deadline she has to make today), so I don't know about meeting for dinner or what time I'll be there yet. Until a few minutes ago, I thought the thing was at the Marquis...I don't know the restaraunts around the Palace.
What time is this at? I thought I saw 8pm somewhere, but now I can't find that note.
I don't know the time of the show either. I was hoping you would know.....

I thought maybe 7 PM or something.
Just got this from Eli:
"The screening actually starts at 7:30PM. I
would advise arriving no later than 6:30 or 6:45 at the latest."

Also:
" Parking is $2
and there is no refund with a ticket stub."
No problem for me. I work in the Heights area, so I can be there in about 15-20 minutes. Do we want to meet anywhere special?
Probably at the theater itself, we should hopefully be there at 6:30. Gonna have a hot dog for dinner, or whatever they have there.

Hedgie is coming.
