Simply put, I think all questions should be asked and all answers be heard. But some people ask questions and then try to get in way of the answers they don't want heard. One way to do this is to discredit the guest. If the guest can respond tje question is a way to gather more information. But when the question is posed in unanswerable, snarling rhetoric... the host is nothing but a liar trying to control your perception to his preference. It's evil and you should take it personally. I did and switched the channel. There's nothing for me worth watching on Comedy Central now except for Tough Crowd.

I want everything and give it to me straight.
Life is too short for anything else.
I was going to respond to this, and then realized that you actually admitted to watching Tough Crowd.

Nice.

Tough Crowd is like current events for schoolchildren who curse a lot.

Related to my last post, does anyone else think it odd that a fake newsman has made more of an effort to remain balanced and non-partisan than most "reputable" ones?

Also, I am really torn about who to vote for in the upcoming election. As bad as I think Bush is for the country, The Daily Show cannot possibly be as funny with Kerry to poke fun at, and that is too bad.

Jon Stewart is fantastic. Conan is the only other host who comes close in comedic talent. I don't see how anyone can compare Kilborn to Stewart. Kilborn is a total stiff. Bland as can be.
I liked how last night they kept showing that "Aboo Gah-ref" clip. I usually don't have the opportunity to watch this show, but have been doing so for the last few nights and I've really enjoyed it. Stewart's hilarious and I like how they'll joke about anybody as long as it's funny. Great show.

Re: Jon Stewart.. and the Daily show

Stewart's interview last night with Terry McAuliffe, the Chairman of the DNC, was fantastic.

And that clip of Michael Moore on CBS' The Early Show verbally sparring with Hannah Storm was also great.

Worth catching during the rerun if you missed it.
Michael Moore delivering a big ole hunk of servage was indeed classic. And he's doing it on other shows, too--I saw him get into it on Charlie Rose last night.
I think any interview with that guy would have exposed his dumbass-ery...
Is there anywhere online what I can download this thing? I've been hearing about it all day.
I felt bad for him, personally.

My favorite part was the part about Moore being hard to find and camera-shy in Samantha Bee's walking shot.

I don't know what it was tonight (the one with Christina Applegate), maybe it's because he had a baby, maybe Bush has finally pushed him over the edge, mabye a little of both, but whatever it was, I hope it never stops. Jon Stewart was on FIRE tonight. The show had a different feel, a renewed sense of self I think. It was just scathing Bush and you could feel it. And his interviewing skills (my only complaint against the man) has diminished. He owns the show, and he knows it. I was already in love with the show but something tonight put it up a notch, for me at least.

You can now see it at the Daily Show's webpage at ComedyCentral.com. It's under most recent videos.

Could Wolf Blitzer have looked any more uncomfortable during his interview with Stewart tonight?

I don't know what's gotten into Jon, but I like it.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I don't even agree with his politics but John Stewart is the man. It sucks that it takes a show on Comedy Central to ask tough political questions on TV.

This show is kicking everyone in the balls, and I love it. The Daily Show is going big places. Whoulda thunk a small show on Comedy Central would be the host of some of the most important political figures and one of the only sources of truth and bullshit calling around?
Remember this: John Edwards had promised Jon that, when (and if) he decided to run for president, he would come on the Daily Show to make the announcement.

Fast forward: Edwards is good to his word, and comes on the show to announce that he's running.

It was savy for Edwards to do that, especially considering that the show ranks high with the 18-49 year olds, but it still goes to show how much pull the show has.
This is one of my favorite shows on television. It's hysterical.
Loved the voting shield states bit last night.
Lewis Black's commentary on the conventions was gold, too.
Hardest I've laughed at a Lewis Black commentary in a long time.
i dont know where lewis black finds the energy to be so disgruntled. He does pissed off damn well though.

Did anybody catch last night's show? It was a repeat, but they had a segment with the guy who's maiking "Michael Moore Hates America." It may have been the funniest thing I've seen in a long time! Samantha Bee talks to the guy, and go down how they can't get an interview with Moore for a movie called "Michael Moore Hates America." Unreal. Later on, Samantha goes on talk about how elusive Michael Moore is, while he's standing RIGHT BEHIND HER! But this is only the tip, as the guy shooting the movie goes to New York and fails miserably to try to find him, much less find people to appear in the movie. He calls Moore's people, and finally calls directory assistance, who send him to the wrong place! The kicker is, Samantha calls Michael Moore because she remembers she has his number, they talk...and they go out for dinner together, leaving the guy directing the movie behind! I seriously almost passed out watching it from laughing so hard. I love how the director of the movie looks like a complete jackass, getting lost in the city, and then implying that Bee and Moore ditched the camera crew to have dinner. Friggin' fantastic stuff. Plus, Will Ferrel was on it, which just sweetens the pot. God, I love this show.

Interview with Wolf Blitzer: good stuff.

You have to keep those goats happy, Jon.

After seeing the first segment of tonight's show, what little doubt I had of Colin Quinn's ignorance, stupidity, and closet racism has been removed. How anyone can choose a show hosted by that stuttered, stale dickhole over the Daily Show is unbelievable.

Oh, and tonight's bio on John Kerry was hilarious. I watched Sharpton's speech live, but I didn't stick around for the punditry. I can't believe the press was that negative. That MSNBC guy was a complete douche. Speaking on behalf of black people "as an outsider." That's the one of the dumbest things ever.
How big a moron was that cat Samantha Bee was interviewing?

***edit***

Stewart was getting pissed with the smug fucker on the show.
Can you go into a bit more detail?
I missed last night's episode as well.

Stewart had a member of the GOP rapid response team (can't think of the name for some reason) who just wouldn't stop with the "Kerry/Edwards most liberal ticket ever" thing and then was obviously shocked when he realized (he'd never seen the show) that Stewart was much more than just a fake news host. Jon got annoyed (he hides it well but regular viewers can kind of tell) and just shat on the rapid response team as a whole.

Samantha Bee was interviewing some guy from Florida running for low level office on an anti-gay platform, he was just pathetic. Mispronouncing words and being a shit in general. One of his main concerns was the "fagitization" of local pool tournaments, where he had lost to a lesbian. Toward the end he started hitting on Bee, saying he had never worked out a day in his life but was "quick as a snake!" and then went into a series of freaky martial arts moves from 3 Ninjas or something (before they found their footing in 3 Ninjas Kick Back).

The Samantha Bee interview was hilarious! I haven't laughed out loud before watching The Daily Show and that did it for me. I'll try and watch more of it now. The sunken boat discovery re-cap segment was dull...but I loved the Samantha part.

You mean when lesbians recruit then seduce straight women with their "double intennuendres?" Hilarious.

I love the fact that the guy had admitted that he hadn't seen the show until recently, and then brought him a pair of ostrich-skin cowboy boots for his infant son as a "peace offering" (my quote, not his.) You can tell he was trying to buy Jon off to try to go easy on him. I love the fact that Jon would not let the guy off, asking the guy where the stats came from, call Kerry and Edwards the first and fourth most liberal congressman, and the guy kept dancing around it. Great.
When he dropped the info that Edwards is right of the median democrat and Kerry is in fact to the right of Ted Kennedy in terms of voting, the guy just seemed shellshocked and I couldn't help but clap.

I _____________, do herby endorse 'The Daily Show' for the television.
The audience reaction when he said Clinton was going to be on next week was pretty funny, but Jon's reaction was even better.

"That's how low on the totem pole we are...people who waited in line to get into the show....And in the audience, some guy went 'That's a buncha bullshit.'"
I think they should actually make "The Colbert Report." If Crossballs can exist, then why not this?
Fantastic episode last night. From the Tom Brokaw piece to the Aaron Eckhart interview, I was laughing all the way!

Natalie Portman's on tonight.
If Natalie had of dropped those crappy ear rings she would have been smoken hot tonight, but with them, she was just hot. Lewis Black, funny as always.
I watch The Daily show religiously, it really is a great news source. It has really evolved, it got a lot edgier when the war in Iraq started I think. Whenever Jon comes out of his show, the man kicks ass. I think that the interview where he kept asking the GOP guy where he got the rankings for liberals from was great, the guy was totally broadsided and you could see it.

Back in Black is, of course always great. "Why do we have these conventions then? BECAUSE THE BALLON LOBBY HAS BOTH PARTIES BY THE BALLS!"

Colbert is a crafty motherfucker. He just looks like such and nice normal guy, but does his insane pervert bit so well. I think my favorite report was during the handoff of power to the Iraqi government, "And the people seem to be celebrating near the police station with bottle rockets, big, exploding bottle rockets."

I didn't like Samatha Bee at first, I don't think the writers knew what to do with her. But recently she has gotten a lot better, shes like a female Colbert now.

I have to agree with you. When she walked out, I was like, "Sooooooo hot, want to touch the hiney," but as the interview went on and those earrings were swinging all over the place, I was like, "Damn! What's with the hubcaps on her ears?" She still looked very nice and I guess the reason she had her hair all coifed up was because of the earrings' size.

As for Black, until last week's appearance, I was starting to miss his bits, as he seemed to be MIA for several weeks. Last night's appearance was fantastic for this line: "Religious folk need to look for a separation of church and IDIOT!!!" Did you see his HBO comedy special back in May? It was one of the funniest things I had seen in a long time.

NataliePortman.com already has the interview up here.

"The Colbert Report" made my day. I laughed so hard when he was talking to Clinton and then said "monkey" - as the screen changed to a clip of a chimp.

"Cut his mic."
I believe the colbert report "commercial" has been done before, but I think they added some new things to the promo.

Also, did portman have a nosejob? I swear her nose looks waaaay cuter than it did in her post- Professional movie years.

I know, but it didn't make it any less funny. The part with him visibly yelling "SHUT UP" at the top of his lungs while the promo voiceover is going on gets me everytime.

"Well, do you voters? Do you have the BALLS?? Well I do. Let me sho-"

Production needs to start on that show NOW.
