Im thinking of getting an xbox and a live kit sometime in the near future. Ill want to use it both at home and in my dorm. To do this easier, Im thinking of getting a wireless kit.

I have some questions.

Is there a way I can get the live starter kit without the mechwarrior game? I have 0 interest in that game.

or

Could I get a wireless kit, and somehow sign up for Live without the kit?

Will a usb headset work with the xbox? The ps2 headset i have is a usb headset, and I would rather not pay for something i dont need.

Yes, some games that have XBOX Live compatabilty come with a free 2 month subscription. But you still need a headset for some talking action.

All you need is a cat 5 cable and plug it in to your home network, no need for a wireless kit.

No, you still need the adapter thingie that plugs into your controller. But, you can use pretty much any standard cellphone headset with the system once you have the adapter.

For the record, the Mechassault/Xbox Live bundle was $70 *before* and *after* the game was included. So the game is basically 100% free.

Get interested in it! It's a blast to play on Live, even if you're not into the whole giant-robot-apocalypse thing.

The main reason Im thinking about buying xbox is for the games- namely Pandora Tomorrow and Ninja Gaidan. I would like to get a wireless modem so that I dont have wires running all over the house. So could I get a wireless modem, and then a seperate xbox live thing? Ive seen renewals sold at best buy. Could I buy one of those and use my wirelss modem?

Is it possible to buy refurbished xboxs? Are they junk, or decent? Im only making about 80 dollars for two weeks working at the caf (im in college), so money is something of an issue. Come summer time, Ill be making more than 80 dollars a day, but I would rather not wait that long.

Stupid me. Once I get some bank (post birthday, apr 21), Im headed to ebay. After that, Ill be buying a live subscription and headset, along with Pandora Tomorrow! wheee!
