After 10 long years...

I finally got my drivers license back!

I got a DUI in '95 (under the influence of a contreolled substance, meth), and was required to take a 1st offenders drivers class, which i never did. Eventually, along with being suspended, my DL also expired in 1996. All this time I just sort of blew it off. Always worked really close to home, so never thought about it. Anyway, so I decided to take the DUI class last September (9 years later) and finished it the end of January. Went to the DMV after work yesterday, paid the $55 reissue fee and the $25 idiot fee (it's a suspension removal fee), and walked out with my CURRENT drivers license. Fiance waiting in the car outside says to me when she sees it no joke), "Good, now maybe this weekend we'll go out and buy you that Jaguar that we both like." I told her thanks, but i'm more of a truck guy. So we're going car/truck shopping this weekend.

Oh, she also said for my birthday, she'll get me that 15" flat panel comp monitor/tv that Home Depot is selling in their catalog for $399. Man, i've got it made.
So, any chewers in the greater souther CA area, Riverside in particular, let me know and we'll do a movie or something

So you drove under the influence of drugs - thus putting God knows how many pedestrians at risk?

I presume you are deeply sorry about acting like a first grade moron?

If not – I really cannot understand why they gave you your license back.

Wow. You sound like a conservative Agent.

Congratulations Casey, I'm sure you've learned your lesson and we welcome you back to the land of traffic, noise, and road rage.

Cars are overrated. I wish I had a fucking subway here, but NOOOOOOOOOO, Florida's bedrock has to be made of limestone which cannot support a mass transit subway system.

Or basements, for that matter.

I sound like a person with a friend who was horribly disfigured because of an idiot who thought he could drive perfectly well under the influence.

If I bought a truck I would go with a Toyota Tundra, double cab. They are nice and roomy and have plenty of power since they started putting their V8 in it.

They gave me my license back because they had no other choice. I did what they asked, even if it was 9 years after the fact. Originally, it was only suspended for a few months, presuming I finished the DUI class within that time. But I didn't.
As a matter of fact Orange, I have always said (even the day I was popped) that I'm glad it happened before something worse did. But the mind of a drug addict is a strange and scary place, someplace I would not want my worst enemy to see. But at the time My worst enemy was me. But i've since made peace with, and forgiven myself and accepted the fact that, until the day I die, I will always be a recovering addict. But just because the word "addict" is there, don't presume that i'm still using. Losing my license is nothing compared to knowing that, no matter where you go, you always have to bum a ride.
