...the total absense of FarCry love on these boards is because people are too busy playing it to post.

Right, the next level should of loaded by now...Carry on!!

Great game that i'm slowly working my way through.

I'd love to play it, but I'm not too confident in my machines capabilities as of now.

Same here. I'd love to play games like FarCry, but I can't afford the type of gaming laptop they'd require. So I just stick with Age of Mythology and old King's Quest games.

Same. I can run the demo on medium settings, but i'd rather wait until I have the machine to really crank them up. Same reason I dont have Pandora Tommarow yet.

I should have such a machine in a matter of weeks

And people wonder why the PC games market is stagnant. All these people, wanting to play a game, but can't because they'd need to spend hundreds of dollars extra just to get the damn thing to work.

Thank god it's not just me.

I finally got my copy on Friday. Bought a £400 graphics card. Have only moved for bathroom breaks and to empty the ashtray. This game is Superb. Absolutely superb. I keep reaching the final level to discover...... its not the final level. Great graphics, shitloads of content, superbly playable.... I think Valve will be kicking themselves for allowing HL2 to be pushed back - this has got to take the crown as the best next gen FPS (True its the only one, but if this is the first effort we are in for some stonking games). The only downside is it has ruined all of my other FPS's. Try playing the sublime Call of Duty now and it seems, well, a bit crap.

I have trouble believing its worthy of all that praise. Its got a great environment, amazing graphics, and a better-than-decent physics engine...but what about it makes you say it will be the "best next generation fps"?

Not trying to bash the game, I'm really just curious what the full version has that goes beyond the sort of average gameplay in the demos.

I see your point, fate, but the demo's really don't do the game justice. You only get to see half of the available weapons and enemies. Also, some of the later locations (WW2 japanese battleship, half flooded genetics lab) are great fun.

Also, once you are left unarmed and surrounded by mutated beasties, the real fun starts.

I was a little turned off by the demo. As one of the lucky few with a system good enough to run Far Cry well, it just didn't look too great.

Well, I mean, it looked fantastic, but at one point I simply went prone in some bushes and watched as an enemy raninto me and failed to take alarm. I spent three minutes looking through the scope of my rifle hearing a weird noise before I looked around and saw that it was coming from this guy who had spent the last few minutes of his life trampling the grass immediately next to me.

That's pretty stupid. Am I to believe the game is not like this in general? Because as much as everyone is claiming this game is unbelievable, the demo really, really doesn't show it in terms of gameplay and AI.

Is the enemy AI infalaable?...no
Does it seem better than any AI 98% of the time?....yes

This is an AMAZING game...is the story original?...no
In fact, is this story a rehash of countless others, yet set in a beautiful Micronesian Paradise?....yes.
Did it come more-or-less out of no-where?...yes
Was it released when they said it would be?....yes
Are the graphics a sight to behold?....yes
Does it come close to beating Half-Life as the ultimate FPS?...No, but it's close...
Do you regret buying this?...Hell, No, but I think HL2 and D3 need to tweak their games more in order to come out this polished...

What if anything is your reason for your love of this game?
...I can fly....!

I realize you're probably being facetious with the whole "I Can Fly!" thing but shit! If you could actually fly, you know, hopping from island to island and fighting helicopters and jetpack villains on the way, well, you'd sell me.

As it stands, Best Buy has it priced at 30 dollars, so...
