Montage music of the 80s

Nothing can touch the music to the Rocky IV training montage.

Rocky IV is one big montage. I like his drive to Russia. Needed more shots of Apollo getting punched in the face by Drago, though.

They should re-do Rocky IV, and make it a 2 hour montage of Apollo getting his ass kicked in a variety of locales, not just the squared circle. See Apollo get his ass kicked...

on the moon
at the mountains of madness
in the poisonous scorched desert known as the cursed earth
in his own home

I wouldn't mind a 'HappyBirthdayPaulie' remix with the giant robot.

If there's one thing I learned from the Rocky series, it is this:
You can tune a piano, but you CANNOT tune-a-fish.

i have to say that i don't really watch the Rocky movies anymore. I'm addicted to watching the trailers, which manage to spoil everything in each movie.

Spoil this.

Second that.

What about the montage from Scarface?

The musical montages of the 80's were a result of the influence of music videos.
Question- Is Footloose a musical or just a collection of synth-pop montages?
Isn't that was all musicals are for their respective genre of music?
I don't know. I generally hate musicals. The ones where the characters sing the songs and/or the songs actually advance the narrative, that is. Those are the movies I always considered musicals.
Yeah, I know what you mean. The musicals that have songs that have absolutely SHIT to do with the story, those are even more annoying.

Wasn't there a montage in "Better Off Dead"?
I'm going to go with THE KARATE KID. I believe the song was "Best Around" by Survivor. I can hear it in my head right now.

BETTER OFF DEAD had a good one, so did REAL GENIUS...but I can't remember much about the songs.

Push it to the limit
Walk along the razor's edge
but don't look down, just keep your head
and you'll be finished

Open up the limit
past the point of no return
You've reached the top but still you gotta learn
how to keep it

Hit the wheel and double the stakes
throttle wide open like a bat out of hell
and you crash the gates
(crash the gates)

Going for the back of beyond
Nothing gonna stop you
there's nothing that strong
So close now you're nearly at the brink
so, push it

(Ooo yeah)

Welcome to the limit
(The limit)
Take it maybe one step more
The power game's still playing so
you better win it

Push it to the limit
(The limit)
With no one left to stand in your way
you might get careless, but you'll never be safe
while you still feel it

Welcome to the limit
(The limit)
Standing on the razor's edge
don't look down just keep your head
and you'll be finished

Welcome to the limit
(The limit)
(The limit)
(The limit)
(The limit)

Push it to the limit
(The limit)
(The limit)
(The limit)
(The limit)

(The limit)
(The limit)
(The limit)
(The limit)

Push it to the limit
(The limit)
(The limit)
(The limit)
(The limit)

Gruber stole my thunder. Bastard.

Anyhoo, my faves are in there. Thanks for answering my Push it to the Limit question, Rath. It was driving me crazy.

In the Dawn of the Dead remake, they should have had the Rocky IV montage music when they're welding the buses.
Or the theme from the A-Team.
Or "Dare" by Stan Bush.

If memory serves, there was three montages in BOD. First the 'repair the camero with Monique' scene, then the 'dinner with Monique while playing sax' scene, and then the 'training up on the mountain with Monique' scene. And I guess there's four of them if you count the dancing hamburger.

My personal favorite.

Nothing beats a good montage.
