Just watched "May"!

Caught it at about 300am on HBO, and I have to say...I should have believed the hype.
Outstanding film, truly engrossing work drawn from it's characters rather than cheap scares.
Why something like "House of the Dead" goes theatrical and this is resigned to DVD is beyond me, perhaps Uwe Boll gives great head.
"May" brought to mind my affection for George Romero's "Martin", but is surprisingly derivative (unintentionally?) of the b-grade Italian slasher flick "Pieces".
Angela Bettis has a few brief moments where her quirks tend to show as overacting, but otherwise she's blessed perfection.
Anna Farris is wonderful as a fairly aggressive lipstick lesbian, and as she was the brightest part in the Scary Movie series, her versatility is highly apparent here.
Last but not least, my man, the Sisto, Jeremy Sisto.
Like Christian Bale, he's one of those actors that fans love even if he isn't a big star...yet. He's incredible on Six Feet Under, he's the ONLY bright spot in "Wrong Turn", and he's great here.
Although I kept being reminded of "Pieces", "Martin", and "Dark Night of the Scarecrow", "May" is it's own animal, and in a very high class of it's own.
I only wish I had seen this sooner. Cheers!

Add May to the list of movies that everyone liked but I didn't.

Don't get me wrong, it was a good story, and the movie was enjoyable, but I don't see it as the masterpiece that a lot of fans do.

I think Angela Bettis turned a decent performance, but I don't think it was the emotional, beautiful, amazing performance that I've seen it called in reviews.

Maybe it was the hype around the movie before I saw it, but I just didn't sit in rapture from the movie.

I'd be willing to give it another chance down the line, but right now...eh.

Brilliant fucking movie.

Yeah, count me in on serious love for this film. Screw Cabin Fever...THIS is a directorial debut to be reckoned with. Not only has Lucky McKee fashioned a truly disturbing, character-driven horror flick, but (gasp) he also actually has something to say.

This is a guy to be watched.

I can't wait for THE WOODS.

I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it's easily one of my favourite horror films in recent memory. One of the few movies that I imagine will still be talked about years from now (much as we still talk about NOTLD and Halloween) and maybe then we can discuss the "masterpiece" label. For now, it's a superbly confident, intelligent and stylish horror movie. What more do you need?

"May" was really good - as good as I expected. A bit uneven as a whole; I thought the concept of the last third of the movie (I won't give it away) wasn't addressed thoroughly in the first half. Great 'shock' ending. The whole cast was excellent.

Actually it's that "shock" ending that I found most derivative of the schlock horror film Pieces. The ending of Pieces is almost exactly the same, but to be fair, it's a totally ridiculous ending, while May is a "make what you want of it" scenario.

Consider us ex best-friends How can you say that about this movie. I don't listen to hype or pay attention to it (besides DOTD remake) and I totally loved it, maybe I connected with Angela Bettis's character because I grew up as someone who didn't have that many friends but i thought overall it was a good movie.

-When I mean hype, I mean reviews or write ups in magazines saying how smart, edgy or passionate the movie was - I think that tainted how I thought about the movie.

If i just happened to stumble onto the movie i might have been more responsive to it, but in this case I was a bit turned off by the hoopla.

-I could, to a degree, identify with the character's quirks. But in my experience, people that are that outwardly weird (to use a phrase that someone used to describe her) usually act that way purposely.

I just didn't buy the fact that she was doing her own thing. That aspect of it felt a bit pushed to me.
Outcasts of society don't always have to be misfit horror loving quirky shut ins.

Like I said, it wasn't terrible, but I just wasn't moved or exactly entertained by it.

Myers, don't be mad at me...

What's wrong with your right one?? How are your thighs doing by any chance.
Left one is tattooed, so that's the better visual one.

I gots chicken legs, but the thighs are fine.

Just make sure the electric carving knife has new batteries.
