Devil Dog: The Hound of Hell

No, not Hostess gone bad...

The movie starring Richard Crenna as a homeowner who gets a dog that was part of a litter from a dog that was impregnated by Satan's dog (no, really!) or is possessed by Satan or something...

Every once and a while the dog turns into this horned beasty with glowing eyes to terrorize people, and it starts to control people.

I used to watch this on Saturday afternoons as a kid.

Every couple of weeks, they'd have this on at 1:00 and Tourist Trap at 3:00.

The scene where Crenna has to hold up a mirror infront of his sleeping daughter to actually see her possessed is really creepy.

Good stuff! Hard to believe it was made for TV.

But could he beat Zoltan: Hound of Dracula in a fight?

This movie still gives me the creeps. Great stuff like Running with the Devil with Warren Oates

I remember watching it on TV after I finished my Halloween trick or treating when I was a kid. It must have been in the late 70's or early 80's because there was another movie on right afterwards with Peter Fonda battling Satanists in his RV . Ah, the 70's were good times for watching horror on TV! Didn't Crenna have an image of a pentagram on his hand? That's about all I can remember about it besides the devil dog.

This is one of the MANY great made-for-tv horror movies of the seventies, right up there with DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, BAD RONALD and DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW.

Good times.

bad Ronald!!! saw this when I was little. They don't make them like this anymore

Hey Bunny, I brought up both these films just a few hours ago on the 70s Horror - TV Style thread. Much love for them!

Anyone remember Midnight Offerings, in which Melissa Sue Anderson (Mary from Little House, and I had a MAJOR crush on her) was an evil black-magic-wielding witch who used her powers for high school popularity?

How many of you remember the 1976 flick "DOGS". This movie scared the shit out of me when I was little. It was about a pack of wild dogs that go on a killing spree. Much like "The Birds" but you guessed it, dogs. I recently found a copy on VHS but it was missing something I remembered seeing at the end of the credits at the drive-in back in the day. After the credits they showed this cat and it hisses and makes an evil sound then it says, "Coming soon......THE CATS". Guess that film never happened. -Clark

I saw a part of this when I was younger and I've wanted to sit down and watch it all the way through but sadly I've been unable to find a copy and it hasn't been on T.V. I still say that's one of the coolest titles for a movie EVER.

Yes, Devil Dog. Creeped me out as a kid on Saturday afternoons. Great stuff.

DOes anyone remember a movie about a giant Manta Ray/Devil Fish? The last shot of the main character being sucked into the depths like Cap'n Ahab by the beast is firmly rooted in my memory but the name of the movie is lost.

I know of an old one from the 40's called DEVIL MONSTER but that's the only killer Manta movie I'm familiar with.

It wasn't a Manta Ray it was a Sea Turtle. It's in the 70's thread. It's been so long I got my animals confused.

It's called The Bermuda Depths.

Everyone remembers it.

Nobody seems to have a copy of it, however.

Okay, you've been holding out on me, ya bastid. Can we do some sorta barter that results in you dubbing me a copy of this? I'll pay all costs, of course. I've been searching for it for years.

I'm actually, in the next couple of weeks in charge of an office move, so give me a little bit of time and I will definitely make you a dub of it.

it might be sometime next week.

Just PM me your address, and you'll get it...eventually. I promise.
